Heckler in Ohio, Praised by Obama
Watch the video below, then read here the whole deal. The heckler had a press pass, which is being questioned how he got it. Eventually, his name and information will come out. It always does.
The whole deal is that he was trying or attempting to make a big deal out of the Obama Campaign not saying the Pledge of Allegiance. He runs, on and on and on....
Barack agreed with the heckler and was smooth as a baby's bottom, here:
Anyway, Obama got out of that one. He was smooth as silk. Obama explained that they always have invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. In campaigns, hey sometimes things get lost and for this instance, it was the pledge. This could have been another righty talking point that he just shut DOWN.

When you are old and try to perceive that you are a change candidate....
why pick on Paris Hilton?
She totally assimilated McCain in her response to his ad about Obama, which he incorporated her and Brittney Spears.
The ad called him old, repeatedly and she called him that "wrinkly, white haired guy".
McCain give it UP. Don't bring these youngun's in this!!! They can put an ad out on youtube quicker than you can say, "I know how to google, now!!!" And for the record, Paris' ad by today is will be over 1M viewed, and it was put out there, yesterday afternoon!!
Lastly, now you have the media talking about "old man McCain", not good dude.
Here is Paris' ad if you missed it.

In Obama Campaign, Big Donors Are a Major Force
In an effort to cast himself as independent of the influence of money on politics, Senator Barack Obama often highlights the campaign contributions of $200 or less that have amounted to fully half of the $340 million he has collected so far.
But records show that one-third of his record-breaking haul has come from donations of $1,000 or more: a total of $112 million, more than Senator John McCain, Mr. Obama’s Republican rival, or Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, his opponent in the Democratic primaries, raised in contributions of that size.
Behind those larger donations is a phalanx of more than 500 Obama “bundlers,” fund-raisers who have each collected contributions totaling $50,000 or more. Many of the bundlers come from industries with critical interests in Washington. Nearly three dozen of the bundlers have raised more than $500,000 each, including more than a half-dozen who have passed the $1 million mark and one or two who have exceeded $2 million, according to interviews with fund-raisers. continue

And there is a reason for bailing out Freddie Mac, 820M worth
Freddie Mac, the nation’s second-largest mortgage finance giant, reported its fourth consecutive quarterly loss on Wednesday and said it would cut its dividend as it struggled through a housing crisis that had cost Wall Street tens of billions of dollars so far.
The company revealed $2.5 billion in credit losses associated with increased delinquency and foreclosure rates, and said the value of its portfolio of mortgage-backed securities had declined by $1 billion.
Freddie Mac reiterated that it would raise at least $5.5 billion from investors. The company has been under pressure from regulators and federal officials to raise additional money but as the share price has declined, the cost of raising the funds has skyrocketed.
In the second quarter, Freddie Mac lost $821 million, compared with a profit of $729 million in the period a year earlier. Over the past year, the company has lost more than $4.6 billion. The quarter’s loss of $1.63 a share exceeded analysts’ estimates of a loss of 41 cents a share, according to Thomson Reuters. continue

Race-card flap reopens Clinton camp wounds
I watched Anderson Cooper 360 last night and Roland Martin was on the panel with Carl Bernstein and Ed Rollins.
As the discussion got to Hillary Clinton being the VP pick, Martin stated that from speaking with top Obama officials, "it ain't happening". But the most interesting thing he stated was the Black Community's anger at Bill Clinton and Hillary for injecting race in the primaries.
Then the ABC interview and Bill Clinton whining he is not a racist. The real anger is Bill Clinton's "still disbelief" that the Black Community turned on him.
Hillary wanted to fore go South Carolina, which would have been smart politically, just as she wanted to side-step Iowa, which would have been politically smart but for South Carolina Bill Clinton stepped all over Hillary's message and campaign.
He just can't seem to understand what he did. It is like this, people go to see a play or musical, during the intermission everyone is talking about the play or musical so far, if you walk through and listen you will find everyone's interpretation different. This is what happened in the primaries. For whatever reason, the Clintons thought the Black Community was either not paying attention or listening, but they were doing both. What they witnessed from her surrogates and the Clintons, they did not like. And to continue to blame the Obama Campaign is crazy. Obama gets NOTHING out of any discussion of race, as we have witnessed in polling and which is why McCain is using this tactic. So, this blame is one the Clintons need to look at on themselves and really ask this community what they did, for that they would get a real eye opener.
Thus, they abandoned the Clintons. This is the group through the Monica Lewinsky tawdry affair, stood behind Bill Clinton and kept his polling numbers UP. That is a fact.
So, as Roland Martin stated, as long as Bill Clinton is still running around, chomping at the bit, whining, can't stay on message, Hillary Clinton will never be Vice-President and after this primary season, I say, President ever.

Is Obama Underachieving?
In an article in today's Los Angeles Times, I examine the widespread notion that Barack Obama has been 'underachieving', especially relative to the performance of a Generic Democrat.
My conclusion is that this characterization is a bit misleading. The apparent underperformance of Obama can partially be explained by structural factors, most notably the fact that the Democrats have a wider, more diverse coalition than the Republicans. It is therefore more difficult for any one Democratic nominee to please all his party's constituents.
But also, Obama has heretofore been unable to brand John McCain as a Generic Republican, as McCain is regarded by much of the electorate as a moderate. In terms of their distance from the median voter, then, Obama v. McCain is a much fairer fight than would be indicated by their respective party affiliations: continue

Obama backs some drilling, tapping oil stockpile
Barack Obama put forward a broad energy plan Monday designed to end U.S. reliance on imported oil within 10 years and shore up his standing amid a tightening White House race and high-anxiety over gas prices.
Obama's proposal, though, includes two significant reversals of positions he has taken in the past: He had steadfastly fought the idea of limited new offshore drilling and was against tapping the nation's emergency oil stockpile to relieve pump prices that have stubbornly hovered around $4 a gallon.
In a speech in Michigan, the Democratic presidential nominee in waiting also endorsed long-term work on hybrid cars and renewable energy sources.
"Breaking our oil addiction is one of the greatest challenges our generation will ever face," the Illinois Democrat told a supportive audience as he embarked on a week to focus on energy issues. "It will take nothing less than a complete transformation of our economy," he said. continue

McCain’s Oil Co. Donors
Senator John McCain received a burst of donations in June from oil company employees after he came out in favor of offshore drilling, according to a report released last week by Campaign Money Watch, a watchdog organization.
But the largest collective response from a single company, the report noted, came from the Hess Corporation. Together, Hess employees or their relatives poured out more than $300,000 to Mr. McCain’s joint fund-raising committee with the Republican National Committee in June, according to campaign finance records.
On Monday, after the web site, Talking Points Memo, listed the names of the Hess contributors, scrutiny fell on a couple, Alice Rocchio, who is identified in campaign finance records as an office manager at Hess, and her husband, Pasquale, who is listed as a foreman at Amtrak.
They each gave a whopping $28,500 to Mr. McCain and the Republican National Committee.
Ms. Rocchio said in a telephone interview that she had made the contribution on her own and no one at the company had reimbursed her for it but declined to explain further. continue

Late Morning Break..New Obama Energy Ad
::
This is what I am talking about, FACTS.
This ad goes into national rotation, today.
McCain=Bush=Status Quo.
First the ad above.
Continue on this course. Anything with George W. Bush attached, the public will vomit. Sorry, for the expression, but that is what he does to us.
And Obama is in Lansing, Michigan today, to roll out his energy plan. Which is worth a read, here.
Yes, McCain's ads were juvenile and over the top on many levels, but you must not stand by and let this resonate with the public.
McCain has so many skeletons in his closet, let's unfold them one at a time.
And lastly, the McCain Campaign does not like the ad. Why should they, any picture linking McCain with Bush is disastrous. Hey, he made is bed, let him lie in it.
::
For Obama, Challenge Is Getting Through
This state might be as close as the Democratic Party comes to having haunted ground. And here was another presidential candidate standing after a maybe-not-so-great week talking about trying to push through the attack ads and “get to” the public.
Senator Barack Obama’s flame burns coolly — he betrays no hint of punching pillows in private — but his words Saturday came with a frosting of frustration.
“If you think about this week, what they’ve been good at is distraction,” he said during an expansive and quite humid early morning press conference. “You’ve got statistics saying we lost another 50,000 jobs. That Florida is in recession for the first time in a decade and a half. And what was being talked about was Paris and Britney.”
Now, in truth, many candidates experience weeks like this. The issues seem to run in a candidate’s favor — Mr. Obama awoke in St. Petersburg, Fla., ready to talk about an ailing economy and saw this newspaper headline: “IT”S A RECESSION.” The mojo should feel good.
Except it does not. continue

The Clinton Playbook Magnified.
::
I am not going to go over the primary, because we all saw that show.
Many of us with dropped mouths, literally, and questioned, "Are we in the right party?"
It was a hard pill, one many did not want to swallow, but we saw race interjected in the primaries and the results was ugly.
It is easy to comment, "Don't bring it up. Let it go. Don't magnify it." Well, we don't have to because The John McCain Campaign has already started to magnify it, themselves.
If we want to be honest about this whole situation, we need to be honest with ourselves. The only way that John McCain has a chance to win is to divide the electorate. To divide the electorate is by race.
Now let me be clear. The GOP ain't shit. Period. Look at their positions and what they allowed to happen to this country, under their watch. The Republican Party gave George W. Bush and Posse carte blanche to do what the hell they wanted. They were not experienced, prepared, educated or had enough common sense to stop the road they were on. They just thought that they could continue and not get caught. Well, this party has been caught, repeatedly, and the Republican Brand has suffered for it. This is our year, but we need to be real here. This is going to get ugly and we need to be ready.
The Republican Party's only recourse is to go the dark side. To allow the ugly head of racism to creep into our national dialogue, which is being magnified by the cable news desk clerks. Yep, McCain has sold his soul for a chance at the presidency and the only way that it can be won is by dividing this electorate on race.
They are playing the Clinton Playbook and will magnify it.
Instead, Mr. Obama has watched Senator John McCain pick up central strands of Mrs. Clinton’s approach, and amplify them. In exaggerated form, Mr. McCain, the presumed Republican presidential nominee, has adopted her attitude toward Mr. Obama’s emergence (disdain), employed the same core argument against him (unproven and risky) and singled out his lingering electoral vulnerabilities (older voters, Rust Belt whites) in a contest where the Democrat’s race forms the backdrop.
This is what is going on. They have studied it and know that this is the only recourse in winning the White House in November. They are copying Clinton's Campaign to the letter.
Mrs. Clinton assailed Mr. Obama as a novice offering “just words,” questioned his ability to respond to a wee-hours national security crisis and threw down shots in a bar to court white working-class voters. She embraced a gas-tax “holiday,” derided by energy experts and editorialists, in arguing that she better understood the travails of ordinary Americans.
The McCain Campaign is throwing the kitchen sink attack at Obama. They need to do it now versus later. The only issue is that folks are still not focused on politics during the summer. All you have to do is ask your co-workers and many are not paying attention. They are doing summer stuff, family stuff, so this noise is out there but is not zoned into, yet.
The Obama Campaign must respond. They don't have to go negative, but they must be hard hitting with facts and I don't mean a press release. This cannot linger and move into the fall.
Now is not the time to be angry at Hillary. The primaries are over. It is her time, to come out FULL FORCE against McCain. Her job now is to help fix this. It is. Whether we like it or not. She must become Obama's number one surrogate and the Obama Campaign got to let her do this.
I have been around nastiness in politics. I worked the Harold Washington Campaign in Chicago, as a teen with my precinct mother. I know what race baiting, racial dividing politics look like. But I do know this, if you stand up and stick with your candidate, you can win. The candidate must flex his muscle and PROVE that he is more equipped for the job and PROVE why his opponent is not.
That is what the Obama Campaign, must do. And it needs to start now, with the simple equation of JedReport:
McCain=Bush=Status Quo
Continue to rinse and repeat.
Sorry, I would trust the electorate on "voting for the right person", but after electing Bush to two terms on "spin", this needs to be nailed completely to the electorate's heads.

McCain and His Negativity Vibe Continues
McCain gained relevancy this week by letting his campaign become hijacked by former Bush/Rove operatives.
"The motor behind his operation now is Steve Schmidt, the shaven-headed strategist who earned his bones running Karl Rove's war room in 2004, Frenchifying and de-war-heroizing John Kerry. What Schmidt and his associates have apparently concluded is that McCain's weaknesses -- on the election's most salient issues and as a candidate -- are so pronounced and Obama's vulnerabilities so glaring that the low road is their guy's best, and maybe only, route to the White House. They've concluded, in other words, that even if McCain may not be able to win the election in any affirmative sense, he might still wind up behind the big desk if he and his people can strip the bark off Obama with sufficiently vicious force."
Yep, that sums it up.
McCain gained relevancy this week by running negative television and web ads, mostly mocking and attacking Barack Obama.
But what about John McCain? What about the maverick? What does he stand for? What does he not stand for?
That is the question. It is up to the Obama Campaign to not get in the mud with McCain, but go after him, hard and heavy with fact. And if you ask, icebergslim, every opening should be:
If McCain is such a "maverick", why has he voted over 95% with George W. Bush?
In each ad, define EXACTLY how McCain voted with George W. Bush.
As I expressed to my online comrades:
we don't have to go dirty, just be civil and hard hitting with dirty facts, that's all.

icebergslim’s last word: organize
While the McCain Campaign is attempting to remain relevant in its negativity, let’s not lose focus on organizing in all 50 States.
The best thing that came of the primary battle was Obama’s chance to visit all the mainland states. He was able to organize on the ground and get things moving.
There is much mumble in the McCain Camp of the Obama advantage in doing so. While Obama has boots on the ground now, organizing, voter registration, canvassing, offices opened everywhere; McCain, not so much.
McCain so far is running a more traditional campaign, targeting perennial tossup states such as Florida and Ohio, sending smaller staffs to those states than Obama, but spending more on television ads. His campaign manager, Rick Davis, said recently that his staff will eventually increase to about 450. By earlier this month, it had opened 11 regional offices in key states and another 84 offices across the country in a joint effort with the Republican National Committee.
Through the McCain attempt of confusing and muddying up the waters, the real deal is the ground game. We must remember, “We have seen and been through this show”. While the Clinton Campaign thought the battle would be in the air, the reality was that the battle was on the ground. This is what Obama knows how and what to do, and he did it well in the primary. Now all this is a massive push for the general election.
"Between the Obama staff and the Democratic Party staff there will be several thousand" paid operatives on the ground deployed across the country, deputy campaign manager Steve Hildebrand said in an interview. "I don't want to get too specific; it gives away strategy."
...Obama and the Democratic Party have about 200 paid staffers working in Florida and more on the way, 90 in Michigan with plans to expand to 200 by August, at least 200 each eventually in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and 50 in Missouri with plans to expand to 150, according to published reports and interviews with Obama campaign officials. Hildebrand said state organizations should be at full strength by the end of August.
Now you get the understanding of going negative, now and early, for the McCain Campaign. While much hand wringing is going on, the focus must remain on organization. To be frank, the McCain Campaign must be worried, especially with the lack of enthusiasm gap for its candidate. As much disdain us have for these negative and frivolous ads, these ads are really targeted to their own base, to get them excited. Will it work? The jury is out on that one, you cannot continue to be negative and don’t offer folks the reason to pull the lever for you. That is just common sense.
So, let’s continue on with our organizing. One thing we have learned is that the Obama Campaign knows how to do it.
