Joe Biden Speech in Danville, VA (Video)

McCain Campaign is a "Ball of Confusion"

I had a long day of phone banking for Indiana.

Very productive and busy, so I am here cruising Daily Kos, but ran across one of the most pathetic stories, I had to laugh.

Title: Let the Wild Charges Begin: McCain Campaign Insinuates Joe the Plumber's Private Records Were Illegally Breached as "Political Retribution" by the Obama Campaign, Compares it to Watergate

No shit, Joe the Plumber now is on the level of the most famous break in that took down a President?

Wow. I am dumbstruck.

••

"Public records requested by The Dispatch disclose that information on Wurzelbacher's driver's license or his sport-utility vehicle was pulled from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles database three times shortly after the debate. Information on Wurzelbacher was accessed by accounts assigned to the office of Ohio Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers, the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency and the Toledo Police Department. It has not been determined who checked on Wurzelbacher, or why. Direct access to driver's license and vehicle registration information from BMV computers is restricted to legitimate law enforcement and government business."

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery participated in a conference call set up by the McCain campaign to chat about this. (You can listen to the call HERE.)

I wrote about "Joe the Plumber". His story was compelling, full of lies, innuendo and make believe, that the once lovely press parked on his lawn was immediately dismissed when his real life was unwound on the internet and eventually on network and cable television.

The McCain Campaign is now insinuating that it is the Obama Campaign that is breaching "Joe's" privacy? What about John McCain throwing "Joe" into the spotlight? What responsibility does he bear?

I am now going to state this, fully, I thought this was going to be a very hard fought, bite nails, oxygen sucking campaign, but right now every day is a circus and I end up laughing my ass off.
"All Joe the Plumber did is ask a question," Giuliani said, giggling. "That should not open American citizens to having -- if this happened -- their private records probed because of some sort of political retribution. And if this is the way an Obama administration is going to conduct itself, the American people should know this before the fact."

When a reporter asked if there was any evidence that these records were breached by anyone with a political agenda, Giuliani said, "If this were someone on the Republican side you would not be asking the question." He said the inspector general needed to get to the bottom of why the information was sought.

As hard fought and tough Giuliani want to be to defend "Joe's" privacy, what there is of and his dignity, folks have already made their minds up about "Joe". Primarily, that "Joe" is another element of the McCain Campaign bag of gimmicks. Joe was taken out of obscurity and dropped onto the national stage, bad taxes, lies and all, but the end result is that the McCain Campaign needed an image, symbol for all of us "Joe's and Joesetta's" out here.

To now point a finger at the Obama Campaign for nitpicky bullshit, a.k.a. distraction, all I can type is that this is one dog that won't hunt. Whenever the McCain Campaign can figure out that issues in this campaign is front and center and not tricks, diversions, wedge issues, the public is willing to listen. Until then, that "McCain Noise" is going in one ear and out another.

Biden so disliked West's line of questioning that the Obama campaign canceled a WFTV interview with Jill Biden, the candidate's wife.

"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign.

Also, West is married to a GOP Media Consultant.

Michelle in Akron, Ohio

••

Hoax, Lies and Irresponsibility

The story stemming from the Ashley Todd incident, the young woman who made up the story that she was "politically attacked" by a "black man" because she supports McCain goes beyond her mental instability, it goes to the McCain Campaign pushing this potential race baiting story.

This story was pushed from Drudge and FOX News linked onto it. These outlets purposely pushed this story as race baiting, that is the fact. It was so important for FOX that their executive VP of news wrote this:

If Ms. Todd’s allegations are proven accurate, some voters may revisit their support for Senator Obama, not because they are racists (with due respect to Rep. John Murtha), but because they suddenly feel they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee.

(snip)

If the incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting.

Now the question is this, is McCain forever linked to race-baiting? His campaign is alleged to have pushed this story just for that effect.
John McCain's Pennsylvania communications director told reporters in the state an incendiary version of the hoax story about the attack on a McCain volunteer well before the facts of the case were known or established -- and even told reporters outright that the "B" carved into the victim's cheek stood for "Barack," according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions.

John Verrilli, the news director for KDKA in Pittsburgh, told TPM Election Central that McCain's Pennsylvania campaign communications director gave one of his reporters a detailed version of the attack that included a claim that the alleged attacker said, "You're with the McCain campaign? I'm going to teach you a lesson."

Verrilli also told TPM that the McCain spokesperson had claimed that the "B" stood for Barack. According to Verrilli, the spokesperson also told KDKA that Sarah Palin had called the victim of the alleged attack, who has since admitted the story was a hoax. continue

Now this information was pumped before the police gave any statement. This information was pushed by McCain Communications Director in Pennsylvania.

The time has come down to it getting scummy, nasty and dirty. It is quite obvious that the young woman who concocted this story has issues, mental. It is obvious that the McCain Campaign must win Pennsylvania, former Governor Tom Ridge stated so. It is obvious that the McCain Campaign has nothing, agenda wise, to offer this country but the continuous divisive tactics.

Lastly, why are any "known journalists" even if they are on FOX, believing or listening to Matt Drudge? This site has always been yellow journalistic, rumor mongering bullshit. Has he been right on some things? Yes, but he has been wrong on much more. Anyone repeating Drudge and not doing the due diligence of fact checking needs to be called out, like FOX NEWS and Sean Hannity.

It is the repeat of bullshit from these outlets that just make people not want to believe ANYTHING that is stated on television, anymore.

Additional information, here.

Michelle Obama fills in for husband in swing state Ohio
The wife of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama spoke passionately about her working class roots Friday as she filled in for her husband who has rushed to be with his ailing grandmother.

"So as many of you may know, Barack is off the campaign trail today. He flew to Hawaii last night to see his grandmother, who we call 'Toot,'" Michelle Obama told a televised rally in Columbus, Ohio. "She is doing OK."

She credited 85-year-old Madelyn Dunham, who helped raise the Illinois senator, as giving her husband an inner strength that has helped him thrive.

"He said the other night -- he said, 'You know, I got my toughness from Toot,'" she said. "Because she taught him with her quiet confidence and that love and support that he could do anything, just deep love and admiration."

Campaigning for her husband in the pivotal Midwestern state of Ohio, Obama described with admiration her own parents' working class values. continue

Beaten McCain Supporter, Ashley Todd, Admits Story is MADE UP, A HOAX

I have been following this story and was upset by it. Another "Susan Smith" story, meaning because she is a "white woman" who is a McCain supporter, she was attacked and mutilated by a "black man."

Well, the McCain/Palin team called her, offered condolences and the Obama Campaign issued a statement, only having the young woman LIE ABOUT IT.

The woman, Ashley Todd, said this was a "political attack". A member of the College Republicans was in Bloomfield, PA (outside of Pittsburgh) to work the campaign. Well, the police got it out of her, that is the truth.

Police tell KDKA that a campaign volunteer has now confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter B in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.

Ashley Todd, 20, of Texas, initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect became enraged and started beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.

Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.

What this young woman did was atrocious. She plotted and blatantly LIED about a "supposed" horrible incident that could touch on many racial fears. She did it on purpose and did it willingly.

She should be charged with hate crime, intent of creating a hate crime, lying, and everything else that they can throw at her.

As for the McCain/Palin Campaign and FOX News who jumped all over this, next time get the damn FACTS, again, FACTS before jumping on a sensational story that just deflated in a bust.

As more details unravel, it was the McCain Campaign that pushed this now discredited story.

$22,800 for Two Weeks of Makeup for Palin

Well, we already know about the 150,000 shopping spree for the Alaskan governor who is a "Walmart, Target" shopper. Damn, guess the labels of Saks and Neiman-Marcus was too good to turn down.

Now, we find out that girlfriend had to have two weeks of makeup for a grand slam total of $22,800.

I don't know about you, but some folks out here make that a year, and many under that. To spend that amount of money for makeup is totally ridiculous, unfounded.

This is another shake your head moment on the choices of the McCain/Palin Campaign.

Secondly, Mr. Blakeman you are just shameless. It is obvious that Barack Obama's 85-yr old grandmother's health has deteriorated that being by her bedside is mandatory.

It is jackasses like Blakeman that makes the average person just say, "Enough". Yes, just enough of this nastiness, snarky, unkind ways of the Republican Party. New York Times Endorses Barack Obama For President

and destroys McCain

Hyperbole is the currency of presidential campaigns, but this year the nation’s future truly hangs in the balance.

The United States is battered and drifting after eight years of President Bush’s failed leadership. He is saddling his successor with two wars, a scarred global image and a government systematically stripped of its ability to protect and help its citizens — whether they are fleeing a hurricane’s floodwaters, searching for affordable health care or struggling to hold on to their homes, jobs, savings and pensions in the midst of a financial crisis that was foretold and preventable.

As tough as the times are, the selection of a new president is easy. After nearly two years of a grueling and ugly campaign, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois has proved that he is the right choice to be the 44th president of the United States.

Mr. Obama has met challenge after challenge, growing as a leader and putting real flesh on his early promises of hope and change. He has shown a cool head and sound judgment. We believe he has the will and the ability to forge the broad political consensus that is essential to finding solutions to this nation’s problems.

In the same time, Senator John McCain of Arizona has retreated farther and farther to the fringe of American politics, running a campaign on partisan division, class warfare and even hints of racism. His policies and worldview are mired in the past. His choice of a running mate so evidently unfit for the office was a final act of opportunism and bad judgment that eclipsed the accomplishments of 26 years in Congress.

Given the particularly ugly nature of Mr. McCain’s campaign, the urge to choose on the basis of raw emotion is strong. But there is a greater value in looking closely at the facts of life in America today and at the prescriptions the candidates offer. The differences are profound.

Mr. McCain offers more of the Republican every-man-for-himself ideology, now lying in shards on Wall Street and in Americans’ bank accounts. Mr. Obama has another vision of government’s role and responsibilities.

In his convention speech in Denver, Mr. Obama said, “Government cannot solve all our problems, but what it should do is that which we cannot do for ourselves: protect us from harm and provide every child a decent education; keep our water clean and our toys safe; invest in new schools and new roads and new science and technology.”

Since the financial crisis, he has correctly identified the abject failure of government regulation that has brought the markets to the brink of collapse. continue

Obama Late Afternoon Break. Polls, Polls, Polls, and Obama on Columbian Lotto Tickets.

Barack in Leesburg, Virginia

••

Polls, Polls, Polls

The most shocking poll out today is from the Big Ten: Battleground.

This poll has Obama up huge.

The other poll is Quinnipiac for FL, OH, PA.

I am half optimistic and half pessimistic. I have to be with polling all over the place here.

First off, I believe Obama is ahead, period. But do I believe he is ahead by 10 points in Indiana? NO. Will he win Indiana? If he does, it will be a squeaker. Also, I do not believe Obama is ahead in Ohio by double digits. Are these polls reliable? Over all, to me, so-so.

Many polling organizations have different metrics on establishing, weighing the information. It is how the information is weighed to determine the percentage size and MOE (Margin of Error). More information on this is to my right under 538, Nate runs it down on his site.

The bottom line is this, don't get complacent and think or even believe that we "got this". Again, we don't have anything until the actual votes are counted. We must remain diligent, continue to work hard for the Obama Campaign to win on November 4th. Nothing should be taken for granted at this point. Again, NOTHING.

Continue to encourage and work the EGOTV (Early Get Out the Vote), continue to phone bank, and GOTV on November 4th. The only way to win the electoral college is to win the states, first.

Lastly, as Obama has said, "Remember, New Hampshire." Keep that in mind before we believe that we "got this."

What If John McCain Loses?

I was struck by a newspaper banner headline this morning – "McCain lambastes the Bush years" – subhead: "We just let things get completely out of hand." The story says that in an interview with the newspaper's reporter, Sen. John McCain "lashed out at a litany of Bush policies and issues that he said he would have handled differently."

Well, you say, no wonder, the Arizona Republican is struggling to separate himself from President Bush in an effort to appeal to Independents. Yes, that certainly does appear to be what he ought to do, but the problem here is, the newspaper I'm quoting from is the Washington Times, a conservative paper which is read not by Independents, but by the Republican base, which isn't all that unhappy with Bush. continue

••

McCain moving money from "Kerry States" to defend "Bush States"

Many have wondered why McCain is wasting time and money in Iowa? Well, Iowa was a Bush state in 2004. McCain's path to 270 is narrow, which means he must win the Bush states.

I believe that McCain is moving, slashing resources to pour into Pennsylvania and to defend Florida and Ohio. Pennsylvania? Yes, he needs Pennsylvania to win because the toss up states are too many to defend. Virginia, North Carolina and Indiana were not toss up states in 2004, which means if Obama wins one of these, McCain must win the rest of the Bush states, plus Pennsylvania. While Obama's path is more broad, meaning he can lose Ohio and Florida and still win the White House.
In another sign that John McCain is on the defensive as time runs out, the McCain campaign is shifting its ad money out of blue tossup states and into red tossups and even traditionally red states, an analysis today by ad maven Evan Tracey finds.

McCain has dramatically slashed his ad spending in Wisconsin and New Hampshire and reduced it in Pennsylvania, suggesting that he's either losing hope or giving up hope in winning in three states that went for John Kerry in 2004, or that he doesn't have ample enough resources for them.

He's also reduced his spending in Colorado, which went for Bush but is showing a lead for Obama, suggesting he may be losing hope there, too. continue

Obama on the LOTTO TICKETS in Columbia!!!

No, Shyte!!

Barack Obama stands to win not only the White House -- according to recent US opinion polls -- but also the lottery in Mesa, Colombia, where his face now graces all the lottery tickets in the city.

"We picked Obama's portrait for our lottery because we're always looking for somebody people are raving about. He's ahead in (US) opinion polls and right now he's the most popular guy around here," Mesa Lottery manager Luis Enciso told AFP.

He said Democrat Obama's picture helped sell more lottery tickets.

"We'd never think of using John McCain," Enciso said referring to Obama's Republican rival in the November 4 US presidential election.

"McCain has the look of somebody who's standoffish, unpleasant and tiresome, a copy of (US President) George W. Bush. We'd never use him."

RNC spends $150,000 on Palin's Clothes

Damn!!! Girlfriend was that, umm, frumpy that the RNC had to fork over Neiman-Marcus bucks?

The Republican National Committee appears to have spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.

According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.

The records also document a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September.

Damn, and spent almost 5 grand on girlfriend's makeup!!
The RNC also spent $4,716.49 on hair and makeup through September after reporting no such costs in August.

Politico asked the McCain campaign for comment, explicitly noting the $150,000 in expenses for department store shopping and makeup consultation that were incurred immediately after Palin’s announcement. Pre-September reports do not include similar costs.

Lord have mercy. All that money for clothes and makeup and hairdos???? Most Americans are struggling to make ends meet and have to read this!!!

You Got to PAY, to have a SAY, with Obama on Election Night

The Obama campaign is putting a hefty price tag on the best camera and reporting positions for news organizations covering Barack Obama's outdoor election night activities in downtown Chicago. If a reporter wants access to the file center--which will be the best place to find Obama officials and spokesmen--be prepared to write a check for $935. The cheapest place a reporter could stand on a riser with a view is $880.

That $935 covers one reporter in a heated file tent, power, cable tv, internet and food. I am told by an Obama spokesman who did not want his name used that this just covers costs and they are not turning a profit on this. The planners could have built in more al a carte options for Grant Park coverage.

This is an outrageous pay to play plan that caters to national elite outlets with deep pockets.

I am not asking for a free ride--news outlets pay for plane seats, other transportation organized by the campaign, hotel rooms, plus associated costs for filing centers.

But this Election Night list is pricey and does not take into account some reporters won't need power, cable, internet or food but will crave the access more than the food. As I was talking to this unnamed spokesman about this enormously expensive set-up, he did say--that a news outlet could rotate people in and out of the tent on that one credential. Great. continue

Not time to be complacent

Yes, the McCain Campaign appears to be imploding in front of us. Good, let them fight, but we should not be complacent.

Barack is on the stump stating two words: NEW HAMPSHIRE

Everyone that has followed the primaries, and with the election two weeks to go, should remember New Hampshire primary night. It was the night that we should have WON, the polls said we should WIN, but the reality is that we DID NOT.

I love being ahead in every single national poll, but the only poll that matter is the ones with boots on the ground, canvassing, phone banking and talking people into voting Obama. That is the only important poll now.

Another thing, the state polls are important. It gives a metric of where each state is at. It is important, but just because we may be 5 points or better ahead, does not mean we sit on our rumps and think "we got this." No, bro or sis, we don't have shit until the votes are counted.

Lastly, if you are in an early voting state, VOTE NOW. If you can help the Obama Campaign down this stretch, DO IT NOW. I remember when Obama was behind in the polls in Florida, early June. I read an article about the voter registration drive in Florida and how hard the volunteers and staff were working. One staffer said this, "we don't care about polls, we win with votes."

I want everyone to remember this. We win with votes, not polls.

Please help this campaign, look to the left under "About Barack Obama" and volunteer to help put Barack and Joe in the White House. It is that serious.

Barack Obama and John McCain headed into the home stretch of the presidential race awash in money, but Obama holds a hefty cash advantage over his Republican rival, according to financial reports.

Obama started October with $133.6 million in the bank, while McCain, who has limited himself to public funds, had $46.9 million in cash on hand, according to financial disclosure forms filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Both campaigns are aided by the Democratic and Republican national committees, which have their own war chests.

The Republican National Committee reported a $77.5 million bankroll. Combined with McCain's funds, the GOP began October with $124.4 million to spend on the election.

The Democratic National Committee started October with $27.4 million in cash on hand. Combined with Obama's funds, the Democrats started the final weeks of the campaign flush with $161 million. continue

Obama off the trail (Thurs/Fri), Grandmother is ill. Going to Hawaii.

Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama is canceling nearly all his campaign events Thursday and Friday to fly to Hawaii to visit his suddenly ill 85-year-old grandmother, his spokesman said.

Robert Gibbs told reporters Monday that Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, who helped raise him, was released from the hospital late last week. But he said her health had deteriorated "to the point where her situation is very serious."

Obama was expected to resume campaigning on Saturday, though Gibbs was unsure where.

Obama events originally planned for Madison, Wis., and Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday will be replaced with one in Indianapolis before he makes the long flight to Hawaii.

Gibbs said it was still being decided whether surrogates would fill in for Obama. His wife, Michelle, for instance, was not accompanying him to Hawaii.

"Senator Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has always been one of the most important people in his life, along with his mother and his grandfather," Gibbs said. "Recently his grandmother has become ill and in the last few weeks her health has deteriorated to the point where her situation is very serious. It is for that reason that Sen. Obama has decided to change his schedule on Thursday and Friday so that he can see her and spend some time with her."continue
