Folks going off at unemployment offices
I knew this would happen and it is starting to.
Many who have been looking for work, unable to find work, now see themselves penniless and possibly on the streets due to the dick play in congress over folks lives.
As for the rich, must be nice to not worry about "those people" when you can shop, travel, count your money and assets without a fear or worry.
This is the most selfish country around and leadership in this country is "meh". At this point, what is the difference if you are a Democrat or Republican, the outcome is all for the lobbyists, corporations and rich. Everyone else or the other 98%, fuck 'em. And that is called getting screwed by this government.
From Louisville, Kentucky, video clip inside link:
Unemployment benefits for more than 100,000 people in both Kentucky and Indiana could run out in a matter of days if Congress doesn't act.
Many people are filing for benefits, others are looking for jobs, but with the threat of benefits running out, tempers are flaring.
In the time that a WLKY reporter was at the Louisville Office of Employment and Training, at least two people were escorted out.
Behavior coming from the White House at a time when unemployment is still close to 10% in this country is bizarre, in the meantime President Obama calls for a pay freeze to federal workers with the exception of the military. Does this man understand what is going on out here, as in NO JOBS???? Does he get it that many are about to be cut with no safety net, at all???? Everyday it just gets worse instead of better in regards to the crap coming out of this White House. I guess they did not receive the memo from the midterm elections because their behavior has not changed, while the public is out here drowning.
Congress is dragging its foot while their citizens are drowning out here, Indiana has added armed guards at all its Unemployment sites. Yes, it is getting bad out here.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development is beefing up its security ahead of the holidays, when officials expect a seasonal surge in unemployment claims and extra stress for long-term jobless who might miss benefits because of Congress.
If Congress doesn't reauthorize extended unemployment insurance, which expires at the end of November, the National Employment Law Project estimates that two million people will prematurely miss checks by the end of December.
"There's obviously increasing stress, especially among the long-term unemployed, and also the upcoming expiration of these federal extensions will add additional stress," department spokesman Marc Lotter told HuffPost.
Lotter said the agency is putting armed guards at each of the 36 WorkOne Centers that process unemployment benefits across the state. Lotter said that each center has already had security for the past two years; the agency is consolidating to one private contractor that will now handle security at each of the centers. It's part of a broader effort to prepare for the holidays, during which Lotter said Indiana sees more unemployment claims and also an effort to standardize services across the state.
It is a pity and a damn shame that we have Democrats in congress, which is still in charge that are doing very little to push for unemployment extension. Forget the Republicans, shit they said they will do nothing to aid President Obama the day after he was elected and they have been true to their word, stayed their course.
I am talking about Democrats. Who are we? What do we stand for? Because this shit show I am seeing out of Washington, D.C. is not what I voted for, period. I don't even recognize the Democratic Party anymore. These sold out thugs are no better than the Republicans, who we know are THUGS. This is the frustration out here.
We, as a party are walking in dangerous territory here. As long as the public views NO DIFFERENCE between the Democrats or Republicans, why should they vote for either? When that happens, well, we already saw what happens. It is called the midterm election. It is called, "What the FUCK!!! I am not showing up to vote for none of you!!"
And who got sent home packing?
Lastly, Kentucky and Indiana decided to keep Republicans in charge. But this is an opportune moment for the Democrats to stand with the common man and continue to REMIND them who is standing with them.
But if you don't know how to craft a message and sit on it, the public will continue to think you don't stand for anything.

Racism alive and well, case and point, former Congressman Tom Tancredo (Video)
Has anyone ever questioned why the Tea Party movement has no persons of color? NONE. It is stuff like this that is so wrong on many levels, that idiots like Tancredo are not called out on it. It is also stuff like this that is a total turnoff to most Americans.
And it took Meghan McCain on The View to totally go off on the Tea Party movement and Tancredo:

How can we win in Afghanistan with all of this going on?
I happen to watch MSNBC today with David Shuster talking to Richard Engel about the Afghanistan mission. After listening to this exchange, I was left with, "How can any mission in Afghanistan be complete in 18 months?"
It is not going to happen.
Richard Engel talked about major problems on the Afghanistan side:
* Corruption
* Nepotism
* Absenteeism
* Drug Addiction
* Illiteracy
This is the short list.
Let's be real, does anyone thing that the 2011 timeline will be kept, with this information from the Pentagon Papers? I mean, I stopped listening at drug addiction and illiteracy. Just those two issues are life changing ones and we all have been around or know someone who has been in and out of rehab for drugs, do you think with all that going on that a 2011 withdrawal is realistic?
And there may not be nearly as many Afghan battalions as the country claims. The report said previous estimates are not believable. "Estimate for soldiers actually in battalions far below reported," it said. "Example: between 40 and 50 percent in some areas." And Afghan soldiers still in the ranks have literacy problems, and that "mentally, physically unfit and drug addicts hurt units."
I am not for the Afghanistan surge or build up, but will give President Obama a chance here, and this is a very small chance. This task is hard and difficult, but nobody is asleep nor does anyone believe that any Western change will be real in Afghanistan.
President Obama must decide what he is going to do. Go after Osama bin Ladin, appease Pakistan, nation build in Afghanistan as we did in Iraq, or just call it a day and focus on us, the citizens and security HERE. I state this after the botch job of our government agencies with the Nigerian terrorist who tried to ignite explosives on a plane from Amsterdam to Detroit, Michigan.
Our president has a lot of issues on his plate, he is a rookie president, he has been slow on some moves, but in the end we can not continue sending our precious blood to these countries and in the end don't have shit to show for it.
To sum it up from Meteor Blades @ Daily Kos:
To condense: the Afghan National Army is a farce; there's little chance of turning it into a cohesive fighting force; and there's zero chance of doing so on a speedy timetable, all of which I noted 10 days ago in Phantom Hope: The Afghan Army.
That is the reality.

Good-bye public option. The status quo seems to have won. (UPDATE and Video)
This is what I have to say.
President Obama did not do enough to push for the public option. We heard for 2 years that we should have "health care like congress", yet, when it was time to push for it there were crickets from the White House. The public option was an easy sell, yet, this White House allowed the public option to be defined by the very persons they were coaxing, Republicans.
And folks are wondering why Barack Obama's poll numbers are dropping? He needs to look around him and the people he have around him, that is the first start.
Dumb ass Democrats.
Democratic senators say they have a tentative deal to drop a government-run insurance option from healthcare legislation.
No further details were immediately available.
But liberals and moderates have been discussing an alternative, including a private insurance arrangement to be supervised by the federal agency that oversees the system through which lawmakers purchase coverage. Additionally, talks centered on opening Medicare to uninsured Americans beginning at age 55, a significant expansion of the large government healthcare program that currently serves the over-65 population.
Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) told reporters he didn't like the agreement but would support it to the hilt in an attempt to pass healthcare legislation.
At this point, with the Democrats and the White House having this legislation drag on, of course, they have to support anything and try to call it reform.
Dems, lost some voters on this one,if in the end it is true. And President Obama? Your base? If this is true, kiss them, GOOD-BYE.
More here.

Truly, this woman lies like the running water out of your tap and just don't give a damn. When you write a book, folks do VETT IT, along with what you said, like, last year as a VP candidate, and it is on tape? Lord, she is one woman destroying machine and that is destroying herself. And why bring Tina Fey back in here? After she actually destroyed you on Saturday Night Live, by using the EXACT words that Sarah Palin said in the interview with Katie Couric!!! GOP, Republicans if this is who you want in 2012, GOOD LUCK!!!
....and Keith says, "...a stupid, uninformed cliff notes version gratuitous liar and that is what Sarah Palin is...."....OUCH!!!

Listening to the cable desk clerks, the Fort Hood shooter is dead, but guess what, he is NOT (Video)
Again, the media gets it WRONG.
From TWD:
The Fort Hood lead suspect and shooter today, Malik Hasan, after reports of his death, is not dead reportedly.....That news has been broken .
And a major question is the fact that where are the other shooters at, because they are still on the loose from what reports are indicated.
In addition, the individual who shot Hasan, she was badly wounded but is alive as well.
More details to come in this stunning development in this shocking and sad day.
Again, brave soldiers at Fort Hood and shout out the lady soldier who stopped Hasan. She is my she-ro, for real.

Rachel Maddow on why President Obama deserves the Nobel Peace Prize (Video)
I saw this segment from Rachel Maddow's show last night and felt the same way on why President Obama deserves this Nobel Peace Prize. The faux outrage from the Republicans and right wing crazies is all about hate. This from the same people who jumped up and down in glee that the United States lost the 2016 Olympic bid. The more this is done, the more these idiots look like unpatriotic Americans. George W. Bush DRAINED all the good will and political capital that the United States of America had with is "us vs. them", "axis of evil" tone coming from the United States. And we paid the price for it, we had to go it alone in Iraq and look what has happened, we found out that we had no business going there and destroying that country and have paid in the billions to trillions for two wars that have brought us NOTHING in return but almost bankruptcy.
We have all been through this for two years. Barack Obama was the only candidate that campaigned on talking to our enemies, talking about diplomacy, talking about removing nuclear arms and he was ridiculed. Barack Obama was constantly told he has done NOTHING to deserve the Democratic Nomination, in fact Hillary Clinton was so sure that the super delegates would give the nomination to her that she campaigned to the very last state up until June. Barack Obama was told he was not ready, needed to wait, and had not done nothing, enough to be President of the United States. Well, all those conventional wisdom know it alls were wrong, as they are wrong now. In the end, when history will speak, many will say he deserved it. h/t Daily Kos

Senator John Ensign (R-NV) in HUGE trouble
From Rachel Maddow:
The worse part of this is Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) was the middle man attempting to pay off Ensign's mistress and knew the implications. The full article is here. The problem with Ensign is that he KNEW that paying his mistress' husband and family off was ILLEGAL. Right now the issue is can he survive and will he be re-elected. And Republican Leadership in D.C. have distanced themselves from Ensign.
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell passed on several opportunities to defend two embattled GOP senators Friday as a new report raised questions about Sen. John Ensign's efforts to cover up his affair with a campaign aide.
McConnell refused to answer several questions about the report, which provided new details of the aftermath of the nine-month affair that Ensign had with campaign aide Cynthia Hampton, the wife of the senator's chief of staff at the time. Ensign eventually dismissed them both.
The Republican leader also refused to comment on new details that Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., tried to broker a payment of restitution from Ensign to the Hamptons.
McConnell, R-Ky., had been asked about a report in The New York Times that said Ensign tried to get Doug Hampton, his lover's husband, a lobbying job to try to contain the damage. The Hamptons later went through Coburn to seek an $8.5 million settlement from the Nevada Republican before the affair became public, the paper said.
Other Senate Republicans took McConnell's lead: none immediately came to the defense of their embattled colleagues.
It was not immediately clear what Ensign's political future held. The Senate Ethics Committee automatically opened a preliminary investigation into his conduct after receiving a complaint from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in June. The panel, which conducts business in strict confidentiality, can launch investigations on lawmakers on its own without receiving a complaint from an outside party.
The Times report raised questions about whether Doug Hampton lobbied Ensign and whether the senator facilitated the arrangement. Federal criminal law imposes a one-year ban on former congressional aides lobbying their ex-bosses or office colleagues. read more here...
And this is what will nail Ensign to the wall:
Now, Ensign is making himself scarce again, after The New York Times reported that he helped Hampton find work as a lobbyist and that Hampton lobbied Ensign on behalf of his clients. Hampton told the newspaper that he and Ensign were aware of a ban on Hampton's lobbying his former boss or Ensign's staff, but chose to ignore it.
Neither Hampton nor his attorney, Daniel J. Albregts, returned telephone calls to The Associated Press for comment. Ensign's office responded to the Times story with an e-mail noting that it had previously been publicized that the senator helped Hampton get two jobs. Ensign's office did not reply to further questions.
