The Republican Party, just sit back and grab your popcorn (UPDATE)

Much is being said about Dede Scozzafava, the Republican candidate dropping out of the special election race for NY-23 against the conservative or independent candidate, Bill Hoffman and the conservative Democrat, Bill Owens.

This district which sits on Niagra Falls has been Republican for over 100 years, dating back to the 1860s, so for anyone to expect the Democrat to win, well he won't. But, what has been fascinating is the insurgency of Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck destroying Scozzafava by denouncing she is not conservative enough, defying the Republican Party to get someone more pure to ideological ideals of these nitwits. The second part of this drama is the lack, weakness of the Republican Party, the RNC, GOP to stop this nonsense. The leadership from congress to state level act like they are afraid to stop the alienation of moderates from the Republican Party. In fact, they are more stale, pale and male than ever. Scozzafava got no help, cover, anything from the National Republican Party, thus she ran in defeat.

Again, the Republicans will jump for joy on winning NY-23, but this is their district anyway. Who is in charge of a long term strategy to allow the Republican Party to become more inclusive? Right now, this party is a bunch of old white men, who continue to ponder about a party and country of the 1950s, instead of looking at this country the way it is, 2009. That is their real problem and that is why this purity strategy will not work going forward.

The movement’s undisputed leaders, Palin and Beck, neither of whom has what Palin once called the “actual responsibilities” of public office, would gladly see the Republican Party die on the cross of right-wing ideological purity. Over the short term, at least, their wish could come true.

The wrecking crew of Kristol, Fred Thompson, Dick Armey, Michele Bachmann, The Wall Street Journal editorial page and the government-bashing Club for Growth all joined the Hoffman putsch. Then came the big enchilada: a Hoffman endorsement from Palin on her Facebook page. Such is Palin’s clout that Steve Forbes, Rick Santorum and Tim Pawlenty, the Minnesota governor (and presidential aspirant), promptly fell over one another in their Pavlovian rush to second her motion. They were joined by far-flung Republican congressmen from Kansas, Georgia, Oklahoma and California, not to mention a gaggle of state legislators from Colorado. On Fox News, Beck took up the charge, insinuating that Hoffman’s Republican opponent might be a fan of Karl Marx. Some $3 million has now been dumped into this race by outside groups.

You know the Republican Party has issues when Newt Gingrich, who supported the Republican candidate, Dede Scozzafava, is now not conservative enough. Yes, this party has major issues.

Dede Scozzafava, endorsed the Democratic Candidate, Bill Owens for the NY-23 seat. Totally, a bat shit crazy race.

State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava (R), who dropped from the special election in Upstate New York yesterday, has now thrown her support to Democrat Bill Owens.

"It's not in the cards for me to be your representative, but I strongly believe Bill is the only candidate who can build upon John McHugh's lasting legacy in the U.S. Congress," said Scozzafava in a statement released moments ago.

It's not clear how much Scozzafava's backing of Owens will change the race. Democratic strategists, who just 48 hours ago saw the race moving back in their direction, have grown pessimistic about their chances in the aftermath of the Scozzafava decision.

Wow, after reading this report any Republican that don't tow this skewed ideology line, will have a hard time retaining their seat. Trying to speak to these people is worthless, you won't get any where. And of course, Fox News speaks for the Republican Party and especially these folks who rejects facts but embraces innuendo.

When Stan Greenberg and fellow Democratic researchers launched a study of the conservative Republican world's reaction to President Obama, he figured they'd find ample evidence of racism.

They didn't. Not at all.

"Race just wasn't brought up," said a surprised Greenberg on a conference call with reporters Friday. He said that the focus groups were given as much time to talk about race as they could possibly need.

"If there was any kind of a racial element, we thought we'd pick it up. We didn't," said James Carville, who also worked on the report.

And when asked who spoke for the Republican Party, the answer was overwhelmingly: Fox News.

The study was done by Democracy Corps and Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research and was also authored by Karl Agne and Jim Gerstein.

What drives the GOP base, rather than race, was a genuine belief that Obama has a "secret agenda" to drive the country in a socialist direction, said the authors. These voters want more opposition, not more cooperation.

"They want more opposition," said Carville. "If you don't wanna get primary-ed, there's nothing in this [report] that tells [a GOP member of Congress] to go compromise on anything. Quite the contrary." read more here.....

Again, these conservatives don't get it. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to many for their on going work to peace. The award is all about the United States of American rebuking the George W. Bush regime, which includes all these nothing pundits, and restoring the United States of America's stature in the world and to bring about peace.

The Republicans, Conservatives did not get nor understand Obama for the past two years, they don't understand or get him now. But the world does, as well as the American Public.

Conservatives and Republicans cheering that the United States of America lost the Olympic bid was epic FAILURE, on your part. Who in their right mind goes against their own country? That bitterness surely is not sitting well in the heart land.

Conservatives and Republicans whining and having a hissy fit over President Obama being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize does not bode well for you, either. Mr. Obama did not campaign for this award, had no idea that he would get this award, but to react like the sun and moon was falling from the sky, that behavior is a bit much. As Americans, we should be PROUD of our President receiving this monumental award. It has proven that the United States of America is moving in a new direction, away from the disastrous George W. Bush era. Your nastiness is not helping your party, one bit. Especially for the elusive independent voter, who thinks that your rhetoric is bat shit crazy!!!

For all this, the conservatives and the republicans have awarded President Obama with higher poll numbers, across the board, and believe me he is truly grateful.

Conservatives, Republicans do you think BLASTING President Obama winning the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize is going to win you any points?

I knew the bitter brew of the other side would come out.

First, Obama did not submit his name for this, in fact there was 12 days AFTER his inaugeration for the deadline. Eventually, we will know who submitted his name.

Second, Obama did not expect to win. He has not been in office for even a year, but the man has been talking peace and disarmament throughout his campaign into his presidency.

Third, there is no doubt that the George W. Bush regime screwed up things internationally and domestically. Is this a referendum? It could be, but don't expect any BUSH to grace any stage of Oslow, Norway any time soon.

Lastly, conservatives and Republicans if you are pissed, send it to Oslow, Norway. This nastiness, like your reaction to Chicago losing the Olympics for the USA leaves a nasty taste in many mouths, a.k.a., it does not look good on you and turn others away from your philosophy and the Republican Party.

And FYI, the Dec. 10th Nobel ceremony in Oslo will be convenient for Obama, who will attend the Copenhagen climate conference, which begins Dec 7th. In other words, President Obama will give a KNOCK OUT SPEECH, and pick up his award. OK??

Conservatives, Republicans if you are Americans, "Get over it. And get patriotic to embrace this moment in time." That includes you, MORNING JOE. No upside? Please. These cable desks idiots are just that, idiots!!! And finally, this is the java jolt that President Obama and his White House needs.

Conservatives cheer that Chicago loses the 2016 Olympic bid. I had my own reasons for Chicago not getting the bid, being from here, but if they got it I would have been happy. In fact, I never heard of anyone from either party HAPPY that any U.S. city lost the Olympic bid, until now. Obama had a right to go swing for the fences for his hometown and an American city that happens to be Chicago. To polarize this is too much, seeing this sends a negative message all around which will not be good for the GOP and scores no political points for the GOP, in the end.

I don't know how this health insurance reform will play out. Right now, it is not playing out well.

Sure, we need a bill out of conference, but who is going to defend the public option once out of conference?

We have a lot of sorry ass Democrats who are not listening to their constituents, taking marching orders from health insurance companies and doing it while screwing us, the American Public.

With no public option, it now means that Senate Leader Harry Reid has to whip the Democrats together, but he does not do that well. That fact is that he is trying to raise money while BLAMING REPUBLICANS for the debacle called, "health insurance reform". The truth is the obstructionists have never been Republicans (we always new they would not vote for shit), but have been the Democrats.

Blanche Lincoln, Max Baucus, Kent Conrad, please don't send me any emails or mailers because I am truly not feeling ANY OF YOU. And Harry? I could care less. As my mother told me today, "everything coming from these Democratic groups goes in the garbage until they get their priorities and act together."

Are the Republicans serious about THIS guy for 2012?

Santorum is a strong neoconservative who represented Pennsylvania in the House of Representatives and the Senate over a 16-year period and rose to the No. 3 leadership position among Republicans.

Santorum once grouped gay sex with incest, polygamy, and bestiality, and he believes consenting adults have no constitutional right to privacy when it comes to sexual behavior. He is a strong supporter of teaching intelligent design. He is anti-gay, anti-immigrant—supporting the most extreme anti-immigrant legislative proposals though he is the son of an Italian immigrant father—antiabortion, and anti-anything that smacks of progressive thinking, centrism, bipartisanship, or moderation in the Republican Party.

Santorum was one of only two senators who voted against Robert Gates to be secretary of Defense because Gates advocated talking to Iran and Syria, which Santorum said would be talking to “radical Islam” and would be a grievous error.

Santorum represents, in my view, much of what is wrong the in the Republican Party. While I disagree with him on some fundamental issues, I am much more concerned with his lack of character.

OK, just reading that is enough for many to just keep stepping on past Santorum, but the Republican Party has issues. There are many Rick Santorums' running around in the Republican Party. We see many of them showing up at these town hall meetings, they take marching orders from the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Hannity and in the end the elected officials of the Republican Party will not dare cross these people. But the following is enough for MANY to just say NO to Santorum.

I’m a pretty tolerant guy, but beyond his ideology, some of Santorum’s behavior is just a little bizarre. For example, Santorum has six children. In 1996, he had son born prematurely who lived for only two hours. He and wife brought the child home and introduced the dead infant to the rest of their children as “your brother Gabriel” and slept with the body overnight.

Despite his actions and extreme ideology, and the fact that he was defeated in his bid for re-election by the widest margin of any incumbent senator since 1980, Rick Santorum should be taken seriously. He is articulate, focused, and a tenacious campaigner. And ideological conservatives love him. His base will be narrow but passionate. They will mobilize and they will vote. Especially in early primary states like Iowa and South Carolina.

And that means there’s one word that should come to mind when thinking about a Rick Santorum presidential candidacy: dangerous.

Santorum taps right into that narrow part of the Republican Party that has strangled the party in attempting any moderation or centrist views. And McKinnon is RIGHT. Those voters will churn out in record numbers in the states like Iowa and South Carolina, giving any moderate a headache that will attempt to run for the Republican nomination.

Finally, Santorum's viewpoint, ideological beliefs are not main stream, it is extreme, that is why Rick Santorum is dangerous.

Yes, conservative Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) called Palin, "Nuts".

I have no idea. I understand -- and you have to check this out -- I just had a phone call where someone said Sarah Palin's web site had talked about the House bill having death panels on it where people would be euthanized. How someone could take an end of life directive or a living will as that is nuts. You're putting the authority in the individual rather than the government. I don't know how that got so mixed up.

Isakson fully CLARIFIES that the end of life directive is about a living will. Something both of my parents have, decisions they made for end of life. Many Americans have these wills and the Republican Party and all these insurance operatives have distorted and hi-jacked this phrasing for "killing seniors".

Democrats, get the message out and CLEAN THIS MISINFORMATION, UP.

Yes, the Holocaust Museum "does validate" the DHS report

I can't write this enough, YES IT DID.

Civil rights activists say a string of recent attacks blamed on right-wing extremists, including Wednesday’s shooting at the Holocaust Museum, show that conservative critics were too quick to fault the Department of Homeland Security over an April report warning about the potential for such violence.


The report was roundly criticized by Republicans for painting conservatives as a threat—particularly military veterans and those opposed to abortion or immigration – and DHS later withdrew the report.

And what has happened in a two week window? An abortion doctor was murdered by a far right winged extremist and a former military officer shot up the U.S. Holocaust Museum, killing an officer.

All this information was in the DHS Report. A report that conservatives and Republicans criticized HEAVILY. Now they are no where to be seen or heard from, because they were totally WRONG.

“I think this latest round of killing once again shows how ridiculous the criticism from the right of the Department of Homeland Security report was. That whole brouhaha was absurd,” said Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center. “Rush Limbaugh and John Boehner can go on until the end of time about how [the report] was an attack on conservatives, but in reality it was a perfectly sober assessment of what was going on out there.”


“We felt the DHS report was pretty right on,” said Deborah Lauter of the Anti-Defamation League. “Clearly the election of Obama, the current financial crisis, and the discussion of immigration reform –those things have certainly fueled the right wing extremist movement in this country….There are clear indications that the rhetoric is manifesting. We hope it’s not the tip of the iceberg.” read more here....

Republicans are spiraling out of control, a new Gallup/USA Poll

Nothing new here.

No one is listening to the Republican Party and all these talk show hosts, etc., are not helping the party, either.

Republicans, out of power and divided over how to get it back, are finding even the most basic questions hard to answer.
Here's one: Who speaks for the GOP?

The question flummoxes most Americans, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, which is among the reasons for the party's sagging state and uncertain direction.

A 52% majority of those surveyed couldn't come up with a name when asked to specify "the main person" who speaks for Republicans today. Of those who could, the top response was radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh (13%), followed in order by former vice president Dick Cheney, Arizona Sen. John McCain and former House speaker Newt Gingrich. Former president George W. Bush ranked fifth, at 3%.

So the dominant faces of the Republican Party are all men, all white, all conservative and all old enough to join AARP, ranging in age from 58 (Limbaugh) to 72 (McCain). They include some of the country's most strident voices on issues from Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court to President Obama's policies at home and abroad. Two are retired from politics, and one has never been a candidate.

The emphasis above is mine's. That is the problem with the Republican Party, old white men: male, stale and pale. That sums the party up. And going forward, that is a very small minority and not enough to attract new voters, minorities, women, etc., to win national elections. That is a death nail. for real.

My question is this, "What the hell happened to them on November 4, 2008?"

Again, this constant bullsh*t that this country is center right is just that bullsh*t.

If this country was so center right, why has the Republican Party lost representation in New England? Down to 2 representatives in New York? Rapidly, losing ground in the Midwest? Lost ground out West? California is gone for a long time!!! And only has held onto the South?

If this every "2 conservatives for every liberal" is true, why the hell are the Republicans not in power?

Again, you don't win elections on the left or the right, only. If you don't get the independent voters, new voters, young voters, get disenfranched voters out to the polls, your party will look like the current Republican Party. If you don't have ideas that transcend to voters, they will continue to put you on mute. But more importantly, if you have relegated your party to a bunch of pale, stale, males then you got what we saw on November 4, 2008.

Joe Scarborough needs to take Keith Olbermann's advice and get a shovel for the sh*t he is saying. A throwback from 2008....
