This is why Judge Sonia Sotomayor will be a solid Supreme Court Justice (Video)

Poor Senator Sessions, he was up for an appointment as a federal judge in the 80s, but did not get it based on his racist viewpoints.....

A Failed Nomination

It was 23 years ago that a Judiciary Committee controlled by Republicans rejected then-U.S. Attorney Jeff Sessions' nomination by Ronald Reagan for an appointment as a federal judge. During confirmation hearings, Sessions sought to rebut accusations from former colleagues that as a federal prosecutor, he was racially insensitive.

At the time, Sessions said he was not a racist and was a civil rights supporter.

But in the end, even Alabama Democrat Howell Heflin, who originally sponsored Sessions' nomination, voted against him. The committee vote was 10-8 against Sessions. Two Republicans and every Democrat opposed his nomination, including ranking Democrat Joe Biden.

Senate Confirms Eric Holder as U.S. Attorney General

About time. Not only is this change we can believe in, but change we NEED.

We need an individual to clean up that mess that Alberto Gonzalez, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney left.

The Senate voted to confirm Eric Holder as attorney general Monday evening, making President Barack Obama's choice the nation's first African-American to hold the job.

Though debate quickly turned partisan when his chief supporter denounced Republicans who sought a pledge not to prosecute intelligence agents who participated in harsh interrogations, the Senate still confirmed Holder as expected.

The vote was 75-21 for Holder's confirmation.

Even Spector came on board.
Despite the partisan beginning, the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, said Holder made mistakes but was well-qualified for the job and should be confirmed.
