GOP Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) shouted "LIE" to the President of the United States, Barack Obama (Video)

This total disrespect have turned many Americans away from the Republican Party tonight, in fact it has just validated the fringe, hate, racist party even more. In all the times George W. Bush addressed congress, not one member of congress was disrespectful. This was totally disrespectful.

One of the most persistent conservative concerns about health care legislation is that it will provide health care to illegal immigrants -- and the heated claim spilled onto the floor of President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress this evening, where one Republican member called the president a liar for denying it.

"There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false - the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally," President Obama said.

A loud voice from the Republican side of the hall answered, "Lie" -- my colleague Glenn Thrush reports it was Rep. Joe Wilson (R - S.C.) -- drawing a second "It's not true," from Obama and a shake of Nancy Pelosi's head.

And Senator John McCain said this:

Wilson's words were "totally disrespectful. He should apologize immediately," McCain said.

And we want THIS to retake congress? I don't think so.

This was quick. Due to protocal in the chamber and the embarrassment this man has made to his own party, Congressman Joe Wilson has apologized for his actions. Expect him to be trounced, royally on blogs, the news and cable. As it should be.

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

And Wilson called the White House but got Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, oh boy.

Wilson apparently called the White House to apologize to Obama directly. Instead he ended up speaking to Rahm Emanuel. Oh, to have been listening in on that f@(&ing conversation.

Lastly, morning joe, Joe Scarborough calls Wilson "a dumbass"

In response to Wilson’s inappropriate claim that Obama is a liar, the conservative Scarborough tweeted, “Whoever shouted out that the president was lying is a dumbass who should show the President respect. I hated when Democrats shouted at Bush.”

The Obamas Wined and Dined Congressional Leaders at White House (Pictures)

President Barack Obama said he wants Democrats and Republicans to realize they share many interests, an appeal for cooperation as congressional leaders sat down together to dine Wednesday evening at the White House.

Obama welcomed the Democratic chairmen of congressional committees and the ranking Republicans on those committees, along with their spouses, to a packed East Room for dinner. About 200 people joined Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and their wives for the latest efffort in the administration's charm offensive, coming in the midst of congressional consideration of a $410 billion spending bill and future debate over Obama's $3.6 trillion budget proposal for the next year.

Obama, whose economic stimulus plan passed with only three Republican votes in the Senate, acknowledged it was not going to be an easy road.

"We are go to have some monumental debates taking place over the next several months and years," Obama said during his brief welcome.

"We also know that we're not always going to agree on everything, but given how hard so many of you are working on both sides of the aisle — day in, day out — we thought it was important for us to step back for a moment, remind ourselves that we have things in common — family, friends, laughter — and hopefully we'll have a chance to appreciate each other a little bit, take a time-out before we dive back into the game."

Obama meets McCain in Chicago

Obama and McCain sat together for a brief picture-taking moment with reporters, along with Rahm Emanuel, Obama's incoming White House chief of staff, and South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, McCain's close friend. Obama and McCain were heard briefly discussing football, and Obama cracked that "the national press is tame compared to the Chicago press."

When asked if he planned to help the Obama administration, McCain replied, "Obviously."

After the meeting, Obama and McCain issued a joint statement saying: "At this defining moment in history, we believe that Americans of all parties want and need their leaders to come together and change the bad habits of Washington so that we can solve the common and urgent challenges of our time."

"It is in this spirit that we had a productive conversation today about the need to launch a new era of reform where we take on government waste and bitter partisanship in Washington in order to restore trust in government, and bring back prosperity and opportunity for every hardworking American family," it said. "We hope to work together in the days and months ahead on critical challenges like solving our financial crisis, creating a new energy economy, and protecting our nation's security."

Obama is not wasting any time on getting his transition team on the ground and running.

The "Obama-Biden Transition Project" will be overseen by former White House chief of staff John D. Podesta; Obama friend and senior campaign adviser Valerie Jarrett; and Pete Rouse, Obama's former Senate chief of staff and top campaign aide, officials said today. It will occupy offices in Washington and in a federal building in Chicago.

The transition co-chairs will work with an advisory board stacked with Clinton veterans and Obama and Joe Biden allies and confidants. On the list: former Environmental Protection Agency administrator Carol Browner; Obama friend and former Commerce Secretary William Daley, University of California-Berkeley law school dean Christopher Edley; Obama law school friends and advisers Michael Froman and Julius Genachowski; former Gore domestic policy adviser Donald Gips; Governor Janet Napolitano; former transportation secretary Federico Peña; Obama national security adviser Susan Rice and Sonal Shah of Google.org.

Mark Gitenstein and Ted Kaufman, old friends to Vice President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr., will serve as co-chairs of his transition team.

Obama will hold a press conference tomorrow focused solely on the economy after his meet with his economy staff; and Obama starts to get his first intelligence briefing, just as President Bush, today.

Caroline Kennedy is rumored for either UN Ambassador or Ambassador of the UK post. Robert Kennedy, Jr. is rumored to head the EPA, which I think is an excellent choice, solely by his work on the environment.

Rahm Emanuel, Congressman from Chicago, gave notice to Speaker Nancy Pelosi that he will leave his post to become Obama's White House Chief of Staff. There has been much flap by the Republicans for this pick, stating he is strictly partisan, but I view this differently. Emanuel worked in the Clinton White House, so he is familiar with how the House runs. Emanuel is familiar with the workings of congress, he was the main wizard who flipped 30 seats in 2006 for the Democrats to retain the house. Yes, he is abrasive, abrupt, an a**hole to many, just being real here, but I think he can be an effective Chief of Staff. Remember, it is Barack Obama who will set the tone in Washington. Obama is a no-drama man and as we have witnessed throughout this campaign, if you are bring "drama" with you, the door will be opened for you to leave.

Robert Gibbs, the Obama Campaign Communications Director is rumored to become the White House Press Secretary and David Axelrod to be Obama's Senior Adviser.

President-Elect Obama will meet President Bush on Monday at the White House, Michelle Obama will accompany the President-Elect to meet with First Lady Laura Bush and tour the private residence of the White House.

Barack Obama has a lot of work to do, this is just a beginning.

Striking a Balance While Becoming a First Family

When Verna Williams called to congratulate Michelle Obama on Wednesday morning, she half-jokingly offered to stop calling her old law school buddy “Meesh” and start calling her something more dignified.

Mrs. Obama dissolved into giggles, and the two traded title ideas, one sillier than the next, all of them too ridiculous to repeat to a newspaper reporter, Ms. Williams said.

One day after the presidential election, the Obama family of Chicago’s Hyde Park is only beginning to figure out how to become the first family of the United States.

As the first African-Americans in the role, they will be a living tableau of racial progress, and friends say they are acutely aware that everything they say and do — the way they dress, where Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7 , go to school, even what kind of puppy they adopt — will brim with symbolic value.

“Here’s an intact black family, a happy family, with beautiful kids and a loving extended family,” Ms. Williams said, “and they happen to live in the executive mansion.”

For President-elect Barack Obama and his family, leaving Chicago means dismantling the protective cocoon they have built around them. continue

Palin Fallout Continues

Two things strike me that I will remember about the McCain Campaign. First, the words after the collapse of Lehman Brothers on Wall Street, "...the fundamentals of our economy are strong..." That statement alone mired McCain in not understanding the economy and being totally out of touch with the average American. And the pick of Sarah Palin.

This sums up the Palin pick by one strategist I overheard state, "she was great for August but a disaster for November." So true.

As in all losing campaigns, the big guns always come out to point the barrel at those who dragged a campaign down, well enter Palin.

Palin did energize the base, a base that was not excited about McCain. I give her credit for that. She was a good attack dog. But the race was always for the middle and it was here that she helped McCain lose. McCain Campaign thought putting her on the ticket would help with the disenfranchised women who were Hillary voters, but they ceased to remember that many of these women are issued voters. Just because Palin was a woman did not mean that women would flock to McCain and vote for him. As the voters became familiar with Palin's rigid, hard right views, many women said adios to McCain and hello to Obama.

She became a favorite among some social conservatives, but her cringe-worthy performances in TV interviews raised questions about her competence and provided fodder for late-night comedians. Her charisma attracted tens of thousands to Republican rallies, but voter surveys found her presence tilted a majority of independents and moderates to Barack Obama.

It was the Katie Couric interviews that turned many women, moderates and independents off, not only to Palin but to John McCain and his judgment to put a complete novice, uninformed of national issues on the ticket. The combination of the Katie interviews, Palin's apparent lie of the 150K in clothing, not just for herself but her family and the disatrous prank call of a fake President Nicholas Sarkozy has pointed the guns at her.

The disputes between the campaigns centered in large part on the Republican National Committee’s $150,000 wardrobe for Ms. Palin and her family, but also on what McCain advisers considered Ms. Palin’s lack of preparation for her disastrous interview with Katie Couric of CBS News and her refusal to take advice from Mr. McCain’s campaign.

But behind those episodes may be a greater subtext: anger within the McCain camp that Ms. Palin harbored political ambitions beyond 2008.

As late as Tuesday night, a McCain adviser said, Ms. Palin was pushing to deliver her own speech just before Mr. McCain’s concession speech, even though vice-presidential nominees do not traditionally speak on election night. But Ms. Palin met up with Mr. McCain with text in hand. She was told no by Mark Salter, one of Mr. McCain’s closest advisers, and Steve Schmidt, Mr. McCain’s top strategist.

On Wednesday, two top McCain campaign advisers said that the clothing purchases for Ms. Palin and her family were a particular source of outrage for them. As they portrayed it, Ms. Palin had been advised by Nicolle Wallace, a senior McCain aide, that she should buy three new suits for the Republican National Convention in St. Paul in September and three additional suits for the fall campaign. The budget for the clothes was anticipated to be from $20,000 to $25,000, the officials said. continue

There is much out there about Palin and it does not smell like roses. Instead of McCain picking a Vice-Presidential choice that is competent, ready to step in for any reason to the presidency, he picked an inexperience boob. And I am being nice here, while her dirty laundry is being talked about all over the teevee.

McCain Can't Afford Bush's Ground Game

So, expect negative ads in the droves from the McCain Campaign this weekend. This is their ground game.

Sen. John McCain and the Republican National Committee will unleash a barrage of spending on television advertising that will allow him to keep pace with Sen. Barack Obama's ad blitz during the campaign's final days, but the expenditures will impact McCain's get-out-the-vote efforts, according to Republican strategists.

I have seen up front and close the Obama Ground Game from the primaries, as I will see it this weekend, up close, again.

An effective ground game can be worth 1-3 points on election day, if driven correctly and ferociously.

Many thought that Kerry would win in 2004, but Kerry did a lot of things in error that Obama took notice. For one, the Democrats "contracted out" their GOTV, which means they had no control as to what was actually happening on the ground, because Kerry was not running it. They also did not have the demographics of this country straight. This means that Kerry 2004 was surprised by the evangelical vote, which put Bush over the top in Ohio. Kerry Campaign were totally clueless. If Kerry had built and run his GOTV from the start, touching voters early vs. later, he would have become aware of this demographic.

The vaunted, 72-hour plan that President Bush used to mobilize voters in 2000 and 2004 has been scaled back for McCain. He has spent half as much as Obama on staffing and has opened far fewer field offices. This week, a number of veteran GOP operatives who orchestrate door-to-door efforts to get voters to the polls were told they should not expect to receive plane tickets, rental cars or hotel rooms from the campaign.

"The desire for parity on television comes at the expense of investment in paid boots on the ground," said one top Republican strategist who has been privy to McCain's plans. "The folks who will oversee the volunteer operation have been told to get out into the field on their own nickel."

Obama has maintained a substantial financial advantage during the general election campaign, forcing McCain to make tough decisions when locking down a final spending plan about two weeks ago. continue

Right now polls mean nothing. Really the polls don't. What is important is getting people to the polls on November 4th or to Early Vote if warranted this late date. North Carolina ends tomorrow, November 1st and Florida ends Sunday, November 2nd.

If you have not given to the Obama Campaign, now is the time. He needs money, because the barrage of the McCain ads will be hard and swift, 24/7. Also, an independent group has purchased ad time, nationally, to run a Reverend Wright ad. This ad is up now and if you have not viewed the ad, yet, you will.

The time to donate and GOTV for this campaign is now.

This election is not in the bag, anything can happen, but if we lose many have to look at themselves and ask the question, "Did I do everything I possibly could to ensure an Obama Victory?" If you did not, you are part of the problem.

The Making (and Remaking) of McCain

On the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 24, John McCain convened a meeting in his suite at the Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Among the handful of campaign officials in attendance were McCain’s chief campaign strategist, Steve Schmidt, and his other two top advisers: Rick Davis, the campaign manager; and Mark Salter, McCain’s longtime speechwriter. The senator’s ears were already throbbing with bad news from economic advisers and from House Republican leaders who had told him that only a small handful in their ranks were willing to support the $700 billion bailout of the banking industry proposed by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. The meeting was to focus on how McCain should respond to the crisis — but also, as one participant later told me, “to try to see this as a big-picture, leadership thing.”

As this participant recalled: “We presented McCain with three options. Continue offering principles from afar. A middle ground of engaging while still campaigning. Then the third option, of going all in. The consensus was that we could stay out or go in — but that if we’re going in, we should go in all the way. So the thinking was, do you man up and try to affect the outcome, or do you hold it at arm’s length? And no, it was not an easy call.”

Discussion carried on into the afternoon at the Morgan Library and Museum as McCain prepared for the first presidential debate. Schmidt pushed for going all in: suspending the campaign, recommending that the first debate be postponed, parachuting into Washington and forging a legislative solution to the financial crisis for which McCain could then claim credit. Exactly how McCain could convincingly play a sober bipartisan problem-solver after spending the previous few weeks garbed as a populist truth teller was anything but clear. But Schmidt and others convinced McCain that it was worth the gamble. continue

WE GOT THIS!!!

Um, not yet.

You must understand that I am like Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde. My one mind says, “We got this”, but my other mind says, “Uh, no we don’t.”

See, I get that all fuzzy, warm feeling seeing all these picture diaries with record breaking crowds. I love putting them up. Then I start to think, “Will these people actually vote Obama?” I then remember Obama doing his 11 state tours during the primaries after Super Tuesday, the crowds were unbelievable!! He got them all fired up and they ran to the polls and caucuses in record breaking numbers. Wonderful. Then I remember Hillary telling Obama stop with the speeches and big rallies and then Obama, well got kicked around the second half of the primary season.

I know my scientific mind is telling me that with all the information, i.e. polls, metrics, analysis that Obama will win. But, my other mind says, “What is the vote total?”

We are in uncharted waters here, democrats. It is called, the “L” word. No one wants to say it, we don’t want to believe it, but it just may happen. When was the last time we were in “L” land? Was it Jimmy Carter, when the country rebuked the Republican Party and Nixon? Was it FDR, who was swept into office because of the Stock Market Crash? Whenever it was, it was a long time ago, that now we may just be looking at history on November 4th and we may just witness the “L” word in process, all evening.

I am humble, not cocky. I can’t be with two minds working simultaneously, but I must write again that “We ain’t got this.” We have 9 days left, for politics it is an eternity, but still 9 days left. Each one of us should be working extra hard to ensure victory on November 4th. Until the votes are counted, we must not assume anything.

I hope you all understand and work to the end. To the bloody end.

McCain Campaign is a "Ball of Confusion"

I had a long day of phone banking for Indiana.

Very productive and busy, so I am here cruising Daily Kos, but ran across one of the most pathetic stories, I had to laugh.

Title: Let the Wild Charges Begin: McCain Campaign Insinuates Joe the Plumber's Private Records Were Illegally Breached as "Political Retribution" by the Obama Campaign, Compares it to Watergate

No shit, Joe the Plumber now is on the level of the most famous break in that took down a President?

Wow. I am dumbstruck.

"Public records requested by The Dispatch disclose that information on Wurzelbacher's driver's license or his sport-utility vehicle was pulled from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles database three times shortly after the debate. Information on Wurzelbacher was accessed by accounts assigned to the office of Ohio Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers, the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency and the Toledo Police Department. It has not been determined who checked on Wurzelbacher, or why. Direct access to driver's license and vehicle registration information from BMV computers is restricted to legitimate law enforcement and government business."

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery participated in a conference call set up by the McCain campaign to chat about this. (You can listen to the call HERE.)

I wrote about "Joe the Plumber". His story was compelling, full of lies, innuendo and make believe, that the once lovely press parked on his lawn was immediately dismissed when his real life was unwound on the internet and eventually on network and cable television.

The McCain Campaign is now insinuating that it is the Obama Campaign that is breaching "Joe's" privacy? What about John McCain throwing "Joe" into the spotlight? What responsibility does he bear?

I am now going to state this, fully, I thought this was going to be a very hard fought, bite nails, oxygen sucking campaign, but right now every day is a circus and I end up laughing my ass off.

"All Joe the Plumber did is ask a question," Giuliani said, giggling. "That should not open American citizens to having -- if this happened -- their private records probed because of some sort of political retribution. And if this is the way an Obama administration is going to conduct itself, the American people should know this before the fact."

When a reporter asked if there was any evidence that these records were breached by anyone with a political agenda, Giuliani said, "If this were someone on the Republican side you would not be asking the question." He said the inspector general needed to get to the bottom of why the information was sought.

As hard fought and tough Giuliani want to be to defend "Joe's" privacy, what there is of and his dignity, folks have already made their minds up about "Joe". Primarily, that "Joe" is another element of the McCain Campaign bag of gimmicks. Joe was taken out of obscurity and dropped onto the national stage, bad taxes, lies and all, but the end result is that the McCain Campaign needed an image, symbol for all of us "Joe's and Joesetta's" out here.

To now point a finger at the Obama Campaign for nitpicky bullshit, a.k.a. distraction, all I can type is that this is one dog that won't hunt. Whenever the McCain Campaign can figure out that issues in this campaign is front and center and not tricks, diversions, wedge issues, the public is willing to listen. Until then, that "McCain Noise" is going in one ear and out another.

Hoax, Lies and Irresponsibility

The story stemming from the Ashley Todd incident, the young woman who made up the story that she was "politically attacked" by a "black man" because she supports McCain goes beyond her mental instability, it goes to the McCain Campaign pushing this potential race baiting story.

This story was pushed from Drudge and FOX News linked onto it. These outlets purposely pushed this story as race baiting, that is the fact. It was so important for FOX that their executive VP of news wrote this:

If Ms. Todd’s allegations are proven accurate, some voters may revisit their support for Senator Obama, not because they are racists (with due respect to Rep. John Murtha), but because they suddenly feel they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee.

If the incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting.

Now the question is this, is McCain forever linked to race-baiting? His campaign is alleged to have pushed this story just for that effect.

John McCain's Pennsylvania communications director told reporters in the state an incendiary version of the hoax story about the attack on a McCain volunteer well before the facts of the case were known or established -- and even told reporters outright that the "B" carved into the victim's cheek stood for "Barack," according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions.

John Verrilli, the news director for KDKA in Pittsburgh, told TPM Election Central that McCain's Pennsylvania campaign communications director gave one of his reporters a detailed version of the attack that included a claim that the alleged attacker said, "You're with the McCain campaign? I'm going to teach you a lesson."

Verrilli also told TPM that the McCain spokesperson had claimed that the "B" stood for Barack. According to Verrilli, the spokesperson also told KDKA that Sarah Palin had called the victim of the alleged attack, who has since admitted the story was a hoax. continue

Now this information was pumped before the police gave any statement. This information was pushed by McCain Communications Director in Pennsylvania.

The time has come down to it getting scummy, nasty and dirty. It is quite obvious that the young woman who concocted this story has issues, mental. It is obvious that the McCain Campaign must win Pennsylvania, former Governor Tom Ridge stated so. It is obvious that the McCain Campaign has nothing, agenda wise, to offer this country but the continuous divisive tactics.

Lastly, why are any "known journalists" even if they are on FOX, believing or listening to Matt Drudge? This site has always been yellow journalistic, rumor mongering bullshit. Has he been right on some things? Yes, but he has been wrong on much more. Anyone repeating Drudge and not doing the due diligence of fact checking needs to be called out, like FOX NEWS and Sean Hannity.

It is the repeat of bullshit from these outlets that just make people not want to believe ANYTHING that is stated on television, anymore.

Beaten McCain Supporter, Ashley Todd, Admits Story is MADE UP, A HOAX

I have been following this story and was upset by it. Another "Susan Smith" story, meaning because she is a "white woman" who is a McCain supporter, she was attacked and mutilated by a "black man."

Well, the McCain/Palin team called her, offered condolences and the Obama Campaign issued a statement, only having the young woman LIE ABOUT IT.

The woman, Ashley Todd, said this was a "political attack". A member of the College Republicans was in Bloomfield, PA (outside of Pittsburgh) to work the campaign. Well, the police got it out of her, that is the truth.

Police tell KDKA that a campaign volunteer has now confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter B in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.

Ashley Todd, 20, of Texas, initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect became enraged and started beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.

Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.

What this young woman did was atrocious. She plotted and blatantly LIED about a "supposed" horrible incident that could touch on many racial fears. She did it on purpose and did it willingly.

She should be charged with hate crime, intent of creating a hate crime, lying, and everything else that they can throw at her.

As for the McCain/Palin Campaign and FOX News who jumped all over this, next time get the damn FACTS, again, FACTS before jumping on a sensational story that just deflated in a bust.

As more details unravel, it was the McCain Campaign that pushed this now discredited story.

$22,800 for Two Weeks of Makeup for Palin

Well, we already know about the 150,000 shopping spree for the Alaskan governor who is a "Walmart, Target" shopper. Damn, guess the labels of Saks and Neiman-Marcus was too good to turn down.

Now, we find out that girlfriend had to have two weeks of makeup for a grand slam total of $22,800.

I don't know about you, but some folks out here make that a year, and many under that. To spend that amount of money for makeup is totally ridiculous, unfounded.

This is another shake your head moment on the choices of the McCain/Palin Campaign.

They just don't get it.
