Wow, after reading this report any Republican that don't tow this skewed ideology line, will have a hard time retaining their seat. Trying to speak to these people is worthless, you won't get any where. And of course, Fox News speaks for the Republican Party and especially these folks who rejects facts but embraces innuendo.

When Stan Greenberg and fellow Democratic researchers launched a study of the conservative Republican world's reaction to President Obama, he figured they'd find ample evidence of racism.

They didn't. Not at all.

"Race just wasn't brought up," said a surprised Greenberg on a conference call with reporters Friday. He said that the focus groups were given as much time to talk about race as they could possibly need.

"If there was any kind of a racial element, we thought we'd pick it up. We didn't," said James Carville, who also worked on the report.

And when asked who spoke for the Republican Party, the answer was overwhelmingly: Fox News.

The study was done by Democracy Corps and Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research and was also authored by Karl Agne and Jim Gerstein.

What drives the GOP base, rather than race, was a genuine belief that Obama has a "secret agenda" to drive the country in a socialist direction, said the authors. These voters want more opposition, not more cooperation.

"They want more opposition," said Carville. "If you don't wanna get primary-ed, there's nothing in this [report] that tells [a GOP member of Congress] to go compromise on anything. Quite the contrary." read more here.....

A South Florida Republican said it was a mistake to shoot at a target with the initials of the Democratic congresswoman he is trying to unseat.

Candidate Robert Lowry made a brief statement to a local newspaper but refused to speak further Friday about the incident, which happened Tuesday during a weekly GOP meeting held at a gun range.

Organizer Ed Napolitano defended the gathering, as well as the use of targets that appeared to be gunmen with traditional Arab head scarves.

Wow, Arab head scarves, how disrespectful can you get? That is really classy and yet, SMART!!!

"That's our right," said Napolitano, president of the Southeast Broward Republican Club. "If we want to shoot at targets that look like that, we're going to go ahead and do that."

Lowry declined to comment to The Associated Press. He initially told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that shooting at a target with the letters "DWS" — a not-so-veiled reference to Democratic U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz — was a "joke," but then said it "was a mistake."

His campaign manager, Chris Leggatt, said Friday: "I don't think we need to make any further comment about it. It's an issue that's been addressed."

Wasserman Schultz, who made headlines earlier this year when she announced she had been secretly battling breast cancer, represents a liberal district that includes a stretch of South Florida from Fort Lauderdale to Miami Beach. She is expected to easily win re-election, though Lowry and three other GOP candidates are vying to face her.

The congresswoman declined to comment. A spokesman, Jonathan Beeton, said "We didn't feel that behavior dignified a response."

I am comfortable to say that Debbie Wasserman Schultz should win re-election next year, with the likes of this idiot, no problem.

Orly Taliz, dreaming of deposing President Barack Obama

The Birther Queen is dreaming of deposing President Barack Obama. All I can type is that, "She will remain in a dream....."

Emerging into the dry Southern California sunshine, Taitz -- dentist, lawyer, wife of a software executive, mother of three and a leading proponent of the so-called birther campaign against President Obama -- walks briskly past her law office, which is conveniently beside the dental practice. Inside the law office is a modest conference room with a table, eight chairs, a couple of abstract paintings and a houseplant. It is here that Taitz dreams of deposing the U.S. president, proving that he is a citizen not of this country but of Kenya, maybe, or possibly Indonesia, perhaps even -- who knows? -- that he is secretly controlled by Saudi Arabia.

"My children are so excited . . . that the president of the United States will have to appear in Mom's office in Rancho Santa Margarita," says Taitz, whose English is richly Russian-accented; she grew up in the former Soviet republic of Moldova.

And if the conference room proves too small to accommodate the presidential entourage and she has to travel to Washington to question the man she refers to as a "usurper," that's okay. Taitz will fly pretty much anywhere to make her argument. The ends of the Earth, one senses, would not be too far away.

It's a lot to take on, but she has help; assisting with her legal filings is Charles E. Lincoln III, a disbarred lawyer and self-described "anarchist." Leaving the office, Lincoln gets in the back seat and Taitz maneuvers her Lexus through the tidy "Real Housewives"-type landscape to a bakery with outdoor seating. For five hours she will discuss her legal crusade, eventually moving to lunch at T.G.I. Friday's.

GOP Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) shouted "LIE" to the President of the United States, Barack Obama (Video)

This total disrespect have turned many Americans away from the Republican Party tonight, in fact it has just validated the fringe, hate, racist party even more. In all the times George W. Bush addressed congress, not one member of congress was disrespectful. This was totally disrespectful.

One of the most persistent conservative concerns about health care legislation is that it will provide health care to illegal immigrants -- and the heated claim spilled onto the floor of President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress this evening, where one Republican member called the president a liar for denying it.

"There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false - the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally," President Obama said.

A loud voice from the Republican side of the hall answered, "Lie" -- my colleague Glenn Thrush reports it was Rep. Joe Wilson (R - S.C.) -- drawing a second "It's not true," from Obama and a shake of Nancy Pelosi's head.

And Senator John McCain said this:

Wilson's words were "totally disrespectful. He should apologize immediately," McCain said.

And we want THIS to retake congress? I don't think so.

This was quick. Due to protocal in the chamber and the embarrassment this man has made to his own party, Congressman Joe Wilson has apologized for his actions. Expect him to be trounced, royally on blogs, the news and cable. As it should be.

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

And Wilson called the White House but got Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, oh boy.

Wilson apparently called the White House to apologize to Obama directly. Instead he ended up speaking to Rahm Emanuel. Oh, to have been listening in on that f@(&ing conversation.

Lastly, morning joe, Joe Scarborough calls Wilson "a dumbass"

In response to Wilson’s inappropriate claim that Obama is a liar, the conservative Scarborough tweeted, “Whoever shouted out that the president was lying is a dumbass who should show the President respect. I hated when Democrats shouted at Bush.”

How to embolden the Republicans

When Barack Obama assumed the presidency in January of 2009, I knew that the right would eventually get riled up over anything he did.

Well, they have and for a demoralized Republican Party, much of their wing nuttery is not only believed but repeated so much, that is becomes the truth to many.

These folks would never vote Obama and their voices are small, but they have their own big megaphone in talk radio and Fox News.

We all have to give the Republican Party credit for taking one issue as health care and demoralizing it, even though their own seniors would never give up Medicare, a government run single payer program. We have seen their likes at the Astroturf town hall meetings, with faux outrage, carrying guns, comparing Obama to Hitler and screaming socialized medicine.

All of this is outrageous, but their one liners have stuck. "Socialized medicine, death panels, death book, government takeover." Yes, all of this has stuck and have been targeted towards the seniors in this country. It has been effective so far because we see all these one liners coming up in polls.

As impressive a job that Barack Obama has done thus far, it will be the battle of health care that will stand out for everyone. I state this because the American Public have short memories, many don't know how the system works in D.C., they don't understand the three branches of government but it is these very voters that can make or break a campaign. We know this, we had to educate the American Public on who Barack Obama was and what he stood for, and it took 2 years.

This is a turning point, Wednesday that is, President Obama must be decisive, direct, forceful, and tell the American Public what he stands for when it comes to health care reform. There cannot be any vagueness, whishy-washy triangulation (which this administration has been BAD at), it must be direct and every point must not be one that can be moved down the 50-yard line.

Which brings me to how to embolden the Republicans? Easy, continue to insist on a bipartisan bill, continue to negotiate everything away, and don't back and state that you want a public option in this bill. The Republican Party has already won the month of August, now we are coming down to the final stretch. If our team cave on every point and give the Republicans and insurance companies whatever they want on the sake of a bill, it is going to be tough for 2010. It is called, "suppressing your base, demoralizing your base", this has been the calculated risk that the tiny Republican Party has been betting on. And it is working. People are sitting out on the sidelines, many who voted for Obama and the Democrats because of unclarity and miscommunication from the White House and the Democratic Congress. We can win these people back, have them in the streets, but only with a speech and fire of "a fierce urgency of now", along with the definitive voice of "I want a public option or public plan" in the final bill. If we don't hear that, the ones on the sidelines will just walk away. Some already have, we know this and we need these people. And remember Denver a year ago?

A year ago, Denver enthusiastically hosted the Democratic National Convention, which culminated with Obama's acceptance speech before more than 80,000 people at the Denver Broncos' football stadium. Legions of volunteers, young and old, fanned out across the state throughout the fall to rally the vote for Obama's campaign.

Today, the energy that powered Obama to victory has begun to dissipate. Some of his supporters remain on the sidelines; others are, if not disillusioned, questioning what has happened to his presidency. As they look toward 2010, Democrats are nervous. Gov. Bill Ritter, appointed Sen. Michael F. Bennet and at least one Democratic member of the House will probably face difficult election campaigns next year.

The Obama of 2008 seemed perfectly attuned to a state known for its youthfulness, future-oriented outlook and positive spirit. If he struggled at times with older voters in Rust Belt states, he always found a welcome in Colorado, easily defeating Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic caucuses before cruising past McCain in the general election.

Today, Coloradans appear more downbeat. Anxiety has replaced optimism. The recession has changed habits and attitudes. Obama's agenda has raised questions among independent voters because of its ambitious scope and potential impact on the deficit. His style has left some original supporters concerned about his toughness.

Well, what can anyone say after this? It is out there. I heard it all summer from many independents and Republicans who voted for Obama and the Democrats. This is why Wednesday speech is important.

And the Republican Party? They will continue to lie, continue being over the top, continue with massive lobbyists influence, monopolize the television coverage, and try to force this administration to BACK DOWN. That is what their final push is. If they win on how they demoralized the health care debate, they will do it every single time for any bill that comes up and this White House will be perceived as weak. We all know this, which is why Barack Obama must tell it like it is on Wednesday, state unequivocally where he stands with the public option or public plan and take the other side OUT.

The Mr. Nice Guy should be gone after Wednesday.

If we can win with the public option, the Republicans would have LOST. They will then know that creating faux havoc, "just won't do". It will be them demoralized, not us. They will be relegated to a fringe party with nuts running around in it and the Republican Congress will not be able to ask for ANYTHING from this administration, going forward.

Finally, the reason that the health care battle means so much to many Americans is because we understood what Barack Obama was saying during his campaign. We know the insurance companies deny claims on purpose; we know they will kick anyone off the very minute they can if anyone has an existing pre-condition; we know these very companies continue to raise premiums while taking away coverage; we know this because Barack Obama told us his personal story. So, the thing or argument of that was just what he said during the campaign won't work here. Barack Obama said, "...words matter" and he told this country that we should have "....health care like congress...", well it is time to pony up and deliver. And it is way past time to whip the Blue Dogs and these conservative Democrats in the senate. They are the obstructionists, not the other way around.

I am looking for a new and improved President Obama on Wednesday. At this point, we all are.

Dissin' our president and calling him "Hitler" is the norm in the Republican Party

In fact, true racists have become the norm in the Republican Party and its leaders have done NOTHING to change any of this. I agree, whole heartedly with this sentiment:

What's truly shocking is that Republicans are still comparing our president to Hitler, and no one on the left has yet figured out how to capitalize on this. How many times do you think we'd have gotten away with comparing George Bush to Hitler? In fact, the answer is: Zero. MoveOn was perpetually blamed for comparing Bush to Hitler, when in fact MoveOn did nothing of the kind. The Republicans wanted to scare MoveOn, and more importantly, hurt MoveOn's brand among Democrats. And to some degree it worked. And what do Democrats do when Republicans actually, repeatedly, compare our president to Hitler?

Democrats where are your spines? Really, where are your spines? I guess being the majority has had the opposite affect. Sure, it is easy to let this sit out there and the public decide, but where are the voices of the Democratic Party?

If a black or latino person would have bought a gun to a town hall of George W. Bush's, there would be no question that person would be in JAIL. But it is increasingly acceptable that these right winged extremists bring guns to a town hall event on health care and it is just the norm. Something is wrong with this picture. The media is just as responsible for having these nitwits on the air, perpetuating further hysteria. There is something going on out there and it is all about the color of our president's skin, this should be disturbing and frightening to us all.

None of what is going on right now is the norm, none of it.

The Republican Party and their GOP operatives have decided that the truth about health care will not be discussed but to continue on a path of lies, deceit, and scare the shit out of the elderly. To some extent it is working, but the game of voting has not begun in congress and people who want health care reform, across the spectrum are letting their voices be heard.

It is Republicans, like Mike Huckabee, who don't care about the truth, but about continuing to muddy up the waters, continue misinformation and just attempt to scare the public to death about health care reform. Remember, these are people who have SIDED with the insurance companies for no change. Again, if the insurance companies were on the up and up with the American public, we would not even be talking about this.

The 2008 Republican presidential candidate suggested during his radio show, "The Huckabee Report," on Thursday that, under President Obama's health care plan, Kennedy would have been told to "go home to take pain pills and die" during his last year of life.

"[I]t was President Obama himself who suggested that seniors who don't have as long to live might want to consider just taking a pain pill instead of getting an expensive operation to cure them," said Huckabee. "Yet when Sen. Kennedy was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer at 77, did he give up on life and go home to take pain pills and die? Of course not. He freely did what most of us would do. He choose an expensive operation and painful follow up treatments. He saw his work as vitally important and so he fought for every minute he could stay on this earth doing it. He would be a very fortunate man if his heroic last few months were what future generations remember him most for."

Video found of GOP Congressman Wally Herger (R-CA) praising "right-wing terrorist"

an incident broke out at a town hall at Simpson University in Redding [Northern California] on Tuesday when Herger signaled encouragement to a 67-year-old town hall attendee, Bert Stead, who called himself a "proud right-wing terrorist."

"Amen, God bless you," Herger reportedly replied to the comment. "There is a great American."

And we are supposed to praise THAT? This is despicable and this congressman should be ASHAMED and REMOVED.

Congressman Herger spends the entire time watching the guy rant with a wry smile. And given the fact that most of the crowd appears to be terrorist sympathizers, there's nothing he can really do without incurring the wrath of his constituency. Just watch as Congressman Herger--who no longer deserves that title, if he ever did--chooses demagoguery over loyalty to American values and ideals.

The Campaign of Misinformation is resonating with the public (Video)

The polls that are continuing to come out is showing that the GOP operatives and the Republican congress are scoring points on the health care debate front. Or in other words they are continuing the "SPINNING LIE MACHINE." The continuous misinformation out there is resonating with the general public. Sure, many of us who follow politics know this is just a bunch of right winged rhetoric bullshit and keep walking, but we are a minority that follow politics, not the majority. The majority is the drive by voter who hears clips on the 30 second teevee beat. Lines are drawn in the sand and I agree with Ed Schultz, it may be the independent voter that makes the final call on the public option. It will be up to President Obama to do a major prime time event and let the public also know, where he stands. Lastly, it is just astonishing to me that a Democratic cause, as health care reform, that we have been fighting for since Harry Truman is twisted and turned into everything else but what it is. That is the Democratic Party's fault for lack of messaging, it is not too late, but the Hail Mary pass to close this, better be STRONG. From the Ed Schultz Show....
