NH gay marriage all the way!!!

It has been worked out and Governor Lynch signed it into law.

Gay marriage legislation became law in New Hampshire this afternoon.

Gov. John Lynch signed the bills just after 5:20 p.m. before dozens of enthusiastic supporters of same-sex marriage.

New Hampshire's law takes effect Jan. 1.

HB 73, compromise legislation demanded by the governor, was passed by a vote of 14-10 in the Senate and 198-176 in the House today. HB 73 (text), was an add-on to the gay marriage bill itself, HB 436 (text), and to HB 310 (text), which made technical changes to the main bill.

HB 73 clarifies the rights of religious organizations and their employees to refuse to participate in same-sex marriage ceremonies or celebrations. It states that religious groups have exclusive control over doctrine, teaching and beliefs on who can marry within theirfaiths.

The House refused to go along with the Lynch language protecting religion two weeks ago, failing to pass the measure by a single vote.

Some who voted against it at the time said the House was being asked to agree to changes without being given enough time to examine them.

House opponents aired the same complaints today, but the tide had shifted.

"The House has always taken the time to consider the unintended consequences of any bill," said Rep. Betsey Patten, R-Moultonborough.

Supporters of the bill said the new language protects religious beliefs and individual rights.

"Let's vote this one last time. Church and state should be separate," said Rep. Anthony DiFruscia, R-Windham, who helped craft the final compromise language.

BHO is opposed to gay marriage because it's against the Muslim religion and he would not want to upset the Muslims.

In NH we are opposed to it because it's an ENTITLEMENT and has nothing to do with 'equality'. It's just one more way to suck money from the taxpayers..

Shame on you.
Stop the hate!!! Equal opportunity is for everyone. 50 years ago African Americans were treated less than zero in this country. Being white was always right. Today is a new day with diversity and people of all backgrounds coming together. And gay marriage for Obama is something against his CHRISTIAN belief, Muslims have nothing to do with it. Man try spinning your crap somewhere else.
Gay Marriage in an of itself is not in conflict with Christianity - this concept was unknown at the time of the Gospels. Certainly, it is clear in Jesus' teachings that he felt the outsider should be included and not shunned and even should be first. In Jewish teaching, sexual contact between males (gay or not) does go against Jewish law in much the same way as eating shrimp and wearing clothes made of multiple types of cloth are bad...for Jews. Certainly President Obama is free to hold his own Christian beliefs but the United Church of Christ to which his former Church in Chicago belonged has long been a progressive church - ordaining the first African American, the first woman and the first gay person. The UCC has long supported gay marriage and has encouraged its independent congregations to do the same. However, President Obama should consider not his religious beliefs but the history of the role religion played in the creation of the Constitution and in particular precedent setting court decisions such as Loving v Virginia (1967), the US Supreme Court stated that to be able to choose to marry the person you love is a fundamental human right. As Gov Lynch declared in the 6/3/09 speech prior to signing gay marriage into NH law (I was honored to be there), it is time that the Federal law change to recognize the state-sanctioned marriages. Just as the Federal law currently recognizes the marriages from the various states despite the multitude of differences between states and their marriage laws.
