1. There is no such thing as a common characteristic of Executive experience. A small business owner has executive experience, a hot dog vendor running his stand has executive experience, a person in charge of small budged and a small group of people has executive experience - does it mean they are all qualified to be president on some grounds?
2. Would Sarah Palin be qualified to run IBM, Microsoft, GM - no, because people running those companies need to understand the business they are in. It's not the executive experience you need to run a country - you need a thorough understanding of country's internal and external affairs (time in congress does give you that, being a gov of Alaska as Palin showed give you none of that)
