Blanche Lincoln, you can be stupid if you want to

Senator Blanche Lincoln, another person in the senate who is bought and sold by the insurance lobbyists has just been told reality by her STATE OF ARKANSAS.

In other words, she can vote against the public option if she dares, it will be political suicide for her.

Voters in Arkansas Support a Public Option

56% of all voters favor a public option, while 37% oppose it. Among Democrats, an overwhelming 83% favor a public option, while 12% oppose it. 57% of Independents favor a public option.

73% of all voters think that private health insurance companies care more about profit than about the health of the patients that they cover. Among Democrats and Independents, that number skyrockets to 86% and 72% respectively.

2010 Political Vulnerability Linked to Voting Against Health Care Bill

43% of Democrats are less likely to vote for Blanche Lincoln in 2010 if she votes against the public option--and 49% of Democrats and 35% of Independents are less likely to vote for her if she helps filibuster a bill.

If the 2010 election were held today, Blanche Lincoln receives 41% of the vote and Republican Gilbert Baker receives 39% of the vote--with 20% of voters undecided. Blanche Lincoln has suffered a net drop of 5% support since last month’s Research 2000 poll.

46% of Democrats are less likely to vote for her in the 2010 primary if she votes against the public option, and 48% are less likely to vote for her in the 2010 primary if she helps filibuster a bill.

Among Democrats, 43% think Blanche Lincoln should be the Democratic nominee again in 2010. 57% are not sure, or think it should be someone new.

Blanche Lincoln Seen as Out-Of-Touch With Arkansas Voters.

Overall, 47% say she is out-of-touch with Arkansas voters. 51% of overall voters think she is ineffective, 35% effective. 36% of Democrats and 50% of Independents think she is ineffective.

Out of touch. That is the sentiment with MOST of those gas bags in the senate, OUT OF TOUCH.

The sentiment out here is ANGER. I hope these Democrats and President Obama understand this. People feel they have been taken advantage of and that free rides are always for the rich. People also feel that their voices and desires are not being heard, taken seriously because we continue to see the ones with power and money buy up the political system.

We want a public option and we want one to expand, eventually, to ALL AMERICANS. Now the Democrats can play around with this if they want to, if they do, that alone will be enough to anger voters at the ballot box.

Do the right thing, Democrats.

The public WANTS a public option, why does congress not get it?

I can answer this question on MANY levels, but it first comes to the tune of money. The money is flowing through congress as never before, especially the senate. Even all these moderate, conservative democratic senators are from states that WANT this in the final bill, but are towing the insurance line. So, what is the big deal?

They are scared or scurred to go against the insurance industry. This industry has most of these politicians bought and sold. Don't think that these senators are not being threatened, yes to the tune of, "If you vote for a public option, kiss your D.C. cocktail career, good-bye. We will run ads to support the candidate running against you in the primary and general and will run you out of your elected seat." Please, don't think this is not happening. And God forbid any of these Democratic Senators losing their spot at the next D.C. cocktail party!!

Look at all these POOR STATES, most in the South and these warped minded Democratic Senators are talking like they are Republicans, even though the polling states that their constituents want the public option. Case and point, Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) answered her constituents questions on line and they hammered her about the public option and why she is not going to support it, some to the tune that if she does not then she will not get their vote.

"We are terribly disappointed that you have caved in to the insurance industry and failed to support the public option for health care. It may very well affect our vote for you in the next election," Ray and Judy told her on the chat, which is posted online.

"Unfortunately the insurance companies opposed the bill I supported in the Finance Committee. There are many ways to provide greater options and choices to individuals, including non-profits, a state plan, and a co-op plan," Lincoln wrote back.

But that wasn't the last word. Lincoln got six more questions along the same lines.

Stan Wilson asked, "Again why are you opposed to a public option or everyone having the same health care options that you have?"

"That is exactly what I am for," Lincoln argued. "I am for expanding health care options for everyone just like the options that I and 8 million other federal employees have. Today the state of Arkansas has one or two options for customers. My goal is to expand that to dozens of choices."

"Nathan - Rogers" asked, "As long as hospitals and insurance company executive are paid based on the profits their companies make, how can we expect the focus to be on the patient without a public option?"

"We're changing that by changing the rules for insurance," was her response.

Next up was Jesse Barr of Winslow, AR, who blared: "Competition is the ONLY way to make the insurance corporations change their behavior!"

"I share your views," Lincoln said. "Providing competition and choice is the best way to make insurance companies change their behavior and be more competitive. It is also the best way to provide more affordable choices for people. Changing the rules is the first step towards forcing the competition."

Senator Lincoln has flipped and flopped all year on the public option, now it is winding down and crunch time. She is up for re-election next year and her record is dismal, in my view, but her constituents are heated about her voting for a public option. Ms. Lincoln has taken big money from the insurance industry, so which way do you think she is going to vote? My bet, her campaign coffers, then I will publicly support ANY Democrat who will run against her in her primary. That is how weak of a candidate and elected official she is.

Lastly, I can not harp on this enough, the United States Congress has the best medical insurance in this country, the type that Candidate Obama said the American Public deserves. If this is so, then why is this so hard for Democrats to understand what the public wants? Money and power is a bitch, it is this combination that can make or break you, we will soon find out for these Democrats in the Senate, which way their wind will blow. And the Republicans? Who cares? They were never going to vote for any health reform ANYWAY.

Mike Huckabee, "Douchebag"

The Republican Party and their GOP operatives have decided that the truth about health care will not be discussed but to continue on a path of lies, deceit, and scare the shit out of the elderly. To some extent it is working, but the game of voting has not begun in congress and people who want health care reform, across the spectrum are letting their voices be heard.

It is Republicans, like Mike Huckabee, who don't care about the truth, but about continuing to muddy up the waters, continue misinformation and just attempt to scare the public to death about health care reform. Remember, these are people who have SIDED with the insurance companies for no change. Again, if the insurance companies were on the up and up with the American public, we would not even be talking about this.

The 2008 Republican presidential candidate suggested during his radio show, "The Huckabee Report," on Thursday that, under President Obama's health care plan, Kennedy would have been told to "go home to take pain pills and die" during his last year of life.

"[I]t was President Obama himself who suggested that seniors who don't have as long to live might want to consider just taking a pain pill instead of getting an expensive operation to cure them," said Huckabee. "Yet when Sen. Kennedy was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer at 77, did he give up on life and go home to take pain pills and die? Of course not. He freely did what most of us would do. He choose an expensive operation and painful follow up treatments. He saw his work as vitally important and so he fought for every minute he could stay on this earth doing it. He would be a very fortunate man if his heroic last few months were what future generations remember him most for."

Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) in trouble

Well, for me, what has Blanche Lincoln stood for? Not much. And it shows in these polling numbers for her in Arkansas.

A new Public Policy Polling survey in Arkansas shows Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) tied with three potential challengers who have essentially non-existent name recognition.

Lincoln gets at 40% against all three of the Republicans. Gilbert Baker (R) and Curtis Coleman (R) lead her with 42% and 41% respectively, while Tom Cotton trails with 39%.

Analsyis: "The numbers of course are more a reflection on Lincoln's standing than that of the Republicans. Her approval rating is now 36%, with 44% of voters in the state disapproving of the job she's doing. That's a 13 point downward shift in her net approval rating, from 45/40 when we measured it in March. That largely tracks the 18 point decline in the President's popularity over that time."

Meaning, the Republicans will be GEARED up to battle her. I am sure she will get plenty of insurance lobbyist money, since she came out early against the public option, then was for it, now who knows?

"At this point in my life, I have never seen my America turned into what it has turned into, and I want my America back," said one woman, on the verge of tears. "And I don't think the Representatives and Senators are gonna be able to do it. I'm scared!"

When Snyder said, "Mike and I do not support a single-payer system, we are not interested in a single-payer system," people began yelling back things like, "That's bull," and "That's what Obama wants." Ross put his head in his hands during the heckling.

And for the record, Obama never campaigned for single payer, yet we continue to see these GOP obstructionists and lies continue to make traction.
