A couple of things on the GOP and Steele. First, Steele is releasing a book without the knowledge of the RNC, GOP. Yes, they are shocked. He has planned paid speeches, also without their knowledge and now the GOP can not control him.
Micheal Steele is all about MICHAEL STEELE. The GOP, RNC needs to get over it. It was their membership that put him in the chairmanship. Instead of the Republicans thinking through what they wanted in a leader of the RNC, they reacted to the election of Barack Obama and put the first black man in the seat. Bad move, horrible decision, now he is telling them to "shut up" or "fire him". If they do, you know the next set of statements is all about the GOP and RNC not being inclusive to minorities. And this is their biggest problem.
Steele is right about one thing in this interview with ABC, the Republicans are an antique party. They have not found their way to move forward and kudos to Steele for stating that out loud and acknowledging that the GOP will not recapture the House in 2010.
Lastly, with unemployment 10%, job losses continuing, the Republicans have a ripe opportunity to move forward with vision and populist themes, but as long as you have those in leadership who are still pumping 80s, Reagan themes, they will never move ahead. For this, the Democrats should be thankful in a year that the economy is taking a huge toll for many families.

The White House is not listening to Main Street (Video)
From Michael Steele, a fumbling, bumbler, but he just may have hit a nerve that many people out here feel. Many do feel that much money, time have been given to Wall Street. For Main Street? Saving homes? 1 out of every 100 applications for the re-mortaging homes from the Obama White House plan, not even 100,000 applications have been approved. Homes are going into foreclouser in record amount, mosting PRIME MORTGAGES now, not sub-prime, those with good credit but families have lost their jobs, hours cuts, wages frozen. Yes, you and me. I have always said, at times, Barack Obama is too professorial, and needs to be blunt with emotion. Perception means everything to people who are hurting. I hope he figures this out.
Now, Obama is going after the banks. OK....

GOP getting tired of Michael Steele
Well, the GOP dooes not like Steele dabbling in policy, since he continues to put his foot in his mouth, now the ultimatum. Stick with state issues, get out of POLICY.
GOP leaders, in a private meeting last month, delivered a blunt and at times heated message to RNC Chairman Michael Steele: quit meddling in policy.
The plea was made during what was supposed to be a routine discussion about polling matters and other priorities in House Minority Leader John Boehner’s office. But the session devolved into a heated discussion about the roles of congressional leadership and Steele, according to multiple people familiar with the meeting.
The congressional leaders were particularly miffed that Steele had in late August unveiled a seniors’ “health care bill of rights” without consulting with them. The statement of health care principles, outlined in a Washington Post op-ed, began with a robust defense of Medicare that puzzled some in a party not known for its attachment to entitlements.
Elected Republicans urged Steele to focus on the governors’ races in New Jersey and Virginia and other political matters, such as fundraising, rather than on attempting to establish party policy.
Steele was taken aback by the comments from Boehner, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), Senate GOP conference Chairman Lamar Alexander of Tennessee and Senate GOP policy Chairman John Thune of South Dakota and grew defensive during the 10-minute discussion, according to two people in the room.
Well, the GOP jumped on having a "black figure head" or minority if you wish and they ended up with one who continues to gaffe, not stay on their pages and does what he wants. Now the GOP attempt to reel him in, but I know they would prefer to have someone else in Steele's position, but when you play the "race card" as the RNC did, they have no choice but to DEAL WITH HIM.

This is all about the Republicans crying that Obama will make a day trip to pitch the 2016 Olympics for Chicago. Republicans, Chicago, Illinois is part of the United States of America (last I heard), but you would think differently with the GOP. Good job, Gibbs.

Michael Steele, Please Kiss My @$$
For real.
Everyone is up in arms over what former President Jimmy Carter said, or in faux rage because most people I have spoken with said, "It is true", anyway I am not in a rage. No one can consciously sit by night after night and watch many racist WHITE AMERICANS, yes, I typed it, continue on the path of President Obama is the Joker, Hitler, Stalin, a maxist, a communist, a socialist, and then go over board and caricature our president to a monkey. Then to continue to use the health care platform to vent their racist rants. Please, that shit is RACIST and folks that see this on the regular, it is a damn turn off, whether you voted for Obama or not.
So, now enters the RNC Chairman, Michael Steele. Michael, bro, token bro, please don't get out of pocket and say that President Obama should repudiate something that former President Jimmy Carter said. Obama did not say it, nor did his White House. Don't play the straw man card here, bro, you are not good at it. We KNOW what you are about and it definitely does not say much about your character, but if you don't like what Carter said, call him up and tell HIM SO.
“Characterizing Americans’ disapproval of President Obama’s policies as being based on race is an outrage and a troubling sign about the lengths Democrats will go to disparage all who disagree with them. Playing the race card shows that Democrats are willing to deal from the bottom of the deck. Our political system has no place for this type of rhetoric.
“As the leader of the Democratic Party President Obama should flatly reject efforts by those in his Party…to inject race into our civil discourse in ways that divide, not unite, Americans.”
Michael Steele is a fucking joke. Where were you when your boy, Glenn Beck called President Obama a "racist"? Where were you? Did you ask Beck to apologize? Did you do anything? No, you did not. Now you want the President of the United States to repudiate something that someone else said? Please, take this bullshit somewhere ELSE. You did not say anything, knowing that you would be CHECKED by your boys at the RNC. Steele, you are the worst of the worst, a weak ass brother, period.
And of course, the lazy assed media, when they don't want to do real work, keeps faux controversies GOING. Folks, nothing new here.

Michael Steele continues to show his brillance, this time on health care (Video)
Scarborough is right to put his finger on exploding costs as one of the major problems about our current system that needs to be addressed. And he’s also right that Steele’s “plan” doesn’t deliver a solution. Looking at each of Steele’s four points:
1) Portability is a key feature of Obama’s health care plan. Anyone who enters into the new national health insurance exchange would be able to purchase insurance that stays with them, even if they switch jobs.
2) Steele says he’s for co-ops, by which he presumably means “association health plans.” AHPs wouldn’t help cover the uninsured, but would increase the costs of coverage and would allow selected small businesses to operate outside state regulations.
3) Steele’s tax proposal would mean that young and healthy workers would opt out of employer plans for cheaper coverage, meaning employers could no longer meet participation requirements to purchase insurance. The whole insurance system would slowly unravel, leaving even more people without care.
4) Steele’s proposal of tort reform addresses only 0.46 percent of total health care expenditures.
Since he concedes he doesn’t do policy, Steele shouldn’t show up on MSNBC and pretend like he can.
And he showed his policy wonkishness on CNN!!!!!

RNC Chair Michael Steele telling Republicans to chill on Sotomayor
Well, he should after the polls have come out and the public is behind her. This racist talk does the Republican Party no good, in fact it makes them more narrow minded than ever to the public. Why should any Latino want to be a part of a party that goes after a credible Latina nominated for the Supreme Court? Keep it up, Republicans.
The nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court has intensified a long-simmering racial divide within the Republican Party.
African-American and Hispanic conservatives who have questioned her judicial philosophy also note the historic nature of the appointment and praise her triumph over economic hardship. White conservatives, on the other hand, have been far more personal and aggressive in their attacks on Sotomayor's record, repeatedly accusing her of "reverse racism" and questioning her intelligence.
"I'm excited that a Hispanic woman is in this position," said Michael Steele on Bill Bennett's radio show Friday. He added that instead of "slammin' and rammin'" on Sotomayor, Republicans should "acknowledge" the "historic aspect" of the selection and stick to a "cogent, articulate argument" against her.
Steele argued that the GOP should not "get painted as a party that's against the first Hispanic woman" picked for the Supreme Court. read more here....
Party against Hispanics. That is a label that the Republican Party is starting to wear, thanks to them allowing voices like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Newt Gingrich and Hannity to craft it.

Michael Steele? Chairman? Quit? RNC? Really?
Again, I wrote that the minute the RNC PTB (powers that be) stepped in to take control of the checkbook, Steele is nothing but a Token.
And I am right.
Remember, taking the realm of the checkbook removes the power from Chairman Steele. Another thing, this is an inside way to push him out or give him an out to leave the post. It is not like Republicans are jumping for joy over Michael Steele. The man equates himself on the same stage as President Barack Obama and sorry, he not only lacks the gravitas, Steele can't even lick the boots of the man. for real. So, the Republicans took a gamble and made a dumb choice. This post is about grassroots, organizing, building the party and strengthening it in the states, not about all the glory road television gigs that Steele has had.
"They can contemplate all they want to, but the reality is if they want a figurehead chairman you can have a figurehead chairman, but it won't be Michael Steele," he said.
Ooooooooh.......
The Republicans so want this man to leave, so want him off the television, so want him to shut up, so want him to GO AWAY. Me, I would so love Steele to stay!!! His daily antics are to die for!!!
Then of course, the minute Steele drops a verbal viagra bomb, here comes the clean up crew:
Steele aides insist the chairman was not threatening to quit, but merely to fight over retaining his authority. But his comments reflect the persistent tension within the Republican National Committee over his chairmanship.
I don't care what anyone says, the RNC, GOP, Republicans have a pot of continuous hot mess stirring, I mean continuous.

Michael Steele says, "Obama's bankrupting the country" (Video)
Steele also says, the "GOP is BACK!!!"
From BarbinMD over at Daily Kos:
"We are going to take this President on with class, we are going to take this President on with dignity," Steele will say. "This will be a very sharp and marked contrast to the shabby and classless way that the Democrats and the far left spoke of the last President."
The RNC meeting wraps up on Wednesday with a scheduled vote on a controversial resolution that calls on Democrats to rename their party the "Democrat Socialist Party."
Damn, class and dignity? What a joke!!! Did King Rush, Hannity, Michael Savage get the memo? I doubt it.

The GOP comeback is here!!!!
Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele insists the GOP has embarked on a new chapter and says it now must offer genuine solutions for the ailing country.
"The era of apologizing for Republican mistakes of the past is now officially over. It is done," Steele said in remarks prepared for delivery Tuesday to state party chairmen. "We have turned the page, we have turned the corner. No more looking in the rearview mirror. From this point forward, we will focus all of our energies on winning the future."
Yet, even as Steele urged the party to focus on the future, he reached back to a Republican former president, saying: "Ronald Reagan always insisted that our party must move aggressively to seize the moment. He insisted that our party recognize the truth of the times and establish our first principles in both word and deed."
OK. They are coming back, but why are these poll numbers so dismal? Why are they losing in every geographic area except for the church goers? Is that coming back? And look for some, across the board Ronald Reagan was a great president, but he is not here any longer and he was from another time or era. It is time for the GOP to leave the throwback alone and come to the 21st Century. You ask a 20 year old about Ronald Reagan and they are "Ronald who?" Psst, GOP, get current.

Michael Steele, the gaffe master that keeps on giving....
The gaffe master, Steele of the RNC had the audacity to make this statement:
Republicans can reach a broader base by recasting gay marriage as an issue that could dent pocketbooks as small businesses spend more on health care and other benefits, GOP Chairman Michael Steele said Saturday.
Steele said that was just an example of how the party can retool its message to appeal to young voters and minorities without sacrificing core conservative principles. Steele said he used the argument weeks ago while chatting on a flight with a college student who described herself as fiscally conservative but socially liberal on issues like gay marriage.
"Now all of a sudden I've got someone who wasn't a spouse before, that I had no responsibility for, who is now getting claimed as a spouse that I now have financial responsibility for," Steele told Republicans at the state convention in traditionally conservative Georgia. "So how do I pay for that? Who pays for that? You just cost me money."
He is blaming gay marriage as a financial burder for taxpayers? WTF? And I hope Keith Olbermann is listening and reading this shit because it is truly a WTF in all realms of possiblity.
Of course, someone on Steele's staff, on his behalf will soon trot out and clarify his statements, but we all know what it is.
If the Republican Party wants to broaden its base, it needs to stop the hate rhetoric and be real on trying to reach all the folks they lost like the independents, the young voters, the new voters, the women, the gays, the hispanics, moderate republicans and what it had of the african-american vote. Statements like Steele's don't give the view of the Republic Party as a big tent but one that is a narrow and bigoted group.

Damn, Steele went there on Romney
[R]emember, it was the base that rejected Mitt because of his switch on pro-life, from pro-choice to pro-life. It was the base that rejected Mitt because it had issues with Mormonism. It was the base that rejected Mitch, Mitt, because they thought he was back and forth and waffling on those very economic issues you’re talking about. So, I mean, I hear what you’re saying, but before we even got to a primary vote, the base had made very clear they had issues with Mitt because if they didn’t, he would have defeated John McCain in those primaries in which he lost.Michael Steele is the gift that keeps giving.
But he has a valid point. Many Republicans were very leary about Romney and his religion, or lack of understanding it. Like Obama, who had to repeatedly state he was a Christian, repeatedly educate not only the general public but the BASE of the Democratic Party, Romney did none of that. If Romney had taken time to to actually do this, he may have won the Republican nomination.
When stuff out there is blowing in the wind and you see it makes a dent in the polling numbers and support erode, you better learn to edit and I mean quick. That is one thing the Obama Campaign was stellar at, they could edit on the fly and everyone else was just left behind.

Michael Steele is a TOKEN!!!!
RNC Chairman Michael Steele gives up the purse strings at the RNC to the powers that be of the RNC. In other words, Steele is just a token chairman.
Capitulating to critics on the Republican National Committee, embattled Republican Party Chairman Michael S. Steele has signed a secret pact agreeing to controls and restraints on how he spends hundreds of millions of dollars in party funds and contracts, The Washington Times has learned.
The "good governance" agreement revives checks and balances Mr. Steele resisted implementing for RNC contracts, fees for legal work and other expenditures that were not renewed after the 2008 presidential nominating contest.
The agreement, proposed by several current and former RNC officials, goes further, making 33-year RNC veteran Jay Banning, who was fired by Mr. Steele along with his deputy last month, an on-call adviser to the RNC treasurer. Mr. Banning was seen as a trusted liaison to RNC members critical of Mr. Steele's tenure and financial management.
"I regard them - the Steele administration - bound by it," former Republican National Committee General Counsel David Norcross told The Times on Tuesday.
Mr. Norcross, RNC Treasurer Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, and former party budget chiefs Ron Kaufman and Alec Poitevint had fought with Mr. Steele over having the 168-member committee vote on restoring the "good governance" guidelines created in 2004 at a special May 20 meeting.
Trevor Francis, the RNC's new communications director, would not comment on the agreement that several of the dissident members said was reached.
"Everything was already in place," Mr. Francis said.
To be honest, Steele was already a shaky figure when it comes to his own financing of his various elections. Whatever the issue, this is unprecedented and makes Michael Steele nothing more and nothing less than a TOKEN HEAD FIGURE at the RNC.
My thing is this, "How long will he last?" My answer to myself, "I don't think very long."
