(UPDATE) Another "Nut in the Hut": Pastor Jones burning the Koran and POTUS response

Yes, this is a publicity stunt of the worst kind. To publicly burn a holy book of Muslim faith the Koran? What will that accomplish? We are already hated in the Middle East for fucking it up by the illegal invasion of Iraq. We already destroyed a country and paying a price for never finding weapons of mass destruction. Now we have a no nothing Pastor who is pulling a publicity stunt of hatred?

And now he wants to speak to President Obama about this? Please. Jones, nut in the hut, the President won't be calling your ignorant ass anytime soon.

President Obama on Good Morning America:

Finally, from General Petraeus on down to the Republicans (who are finally coming out with a response), the final consensus is that this is not only a bad idea but will put our troops in harm's way due to this totally irresponsible publicity stunt.

Pastor Jones cancels Koran burning:

The pastor of a Florida church announced Thursday he is calling off his plans to burn copies of the Qurann on Saturday -- the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Rev. Terry Jones said at a press conference he is canceling the controversial event.

Confidence drops for Obama

And this makes it hard for November. I don't know if the Democrats will hold onto the House of Representatives, but if President Obama's ratings are tanking it does not help the party.

It is not that the public embraces the Republican position, from every poll, the public does not. The Republicans have not been forgotten for putting this country in the position it is in while standing by and saying NO to everyone. The main problem here, for me, has been communication and messaging on this administration's positions and the about face on much from the campaign to voters. The Democrats need all those massive voters that came out in 2008, but the enthusiasm gap is real, they are not excited. That is a real issue.

As I have been writing, November is about the economy/jobs. The Obama Administration dropped the ball on that one. The perception of this administration not doing anything about job creation will be one taken all the way to the polls.

Public confidence in President Obama has hit a new low, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll. Four months before midterm elections that will define the second half of his term, nearly six in 10 voters say they lack faith in the president to make the right decisions for the country, and a clear majority once again disapproves of how he is dealing with the economy.

And the bottomline is this:
Recent economic developments -- a declining stock market, problems in the housing industry and an unemployment report showing only tepid job growth in the private sector -- may have bruised the president's ratings.

Lastly, the Obama White House needs total re-haul, TOTAL. New EVERYBODY, especially that political and communication team. The messaging on everything has been atrocious coming from the White House and for all the hand wringing, in the end, Barack Obama is head of the Democratic Party, whether he likes it or not. Not head of the Bi-Partisan Party but the Democratic Party and he needs to get that.

Racism alive and well, case and point, former Congressman Tom Tancredo (Video)

Has anyone ever questioned why the Tea Party movement has no persons of color? NONE. It is stuff like this that is so wrong on many levels, that idiots like Tancredo are not called out on it. It is also stuff like this that is a total turnoff to most Americans.

And it took Meghan McCain on The View to totally go off on the Tea Party movement and Tancredo:

Obama apologizes for not being transparent

Thanks.

For me, after the big pharmaceutical back room, smoke deal my eye turned critical. Remember, Obama said the negotiations would be on television, on C-SPAN, but once he assumed the Oval Office that was another thing scratched off the "campaign promise" list.

Now, the president "regrets" transparency. whatever....

In Diane Sawyer's interview with President Obama today, she asked him if going forward all the conversations should be on C-SPAN.

"I think your question points out to a legitimate mistake that I made during the course of the year," the president said, "and that is that we had to make so many decisions quickly in a very difficult set of circumstances that after awhile, we started worrying more about getting the policy right than getting the process right.

"But I had campaigned on process," the president continued. "Part of what I had campaigned on was changing how Washington works, opening up transparency and I think it is -- I think the health care debate as it unfolded legitimately raised concerns not just among my opponents, but also amongst supporters that we just don't know what's going on. And it's an ugly process and it looks like there are a bunch of back room deals.

Mr. Obama said, "I think it's my responsibility -- and I'll be speaking to this at the State of the Union -- to own up to the fact that the process didn't run the way I ideally would like it to and that we have to move forward in a way that recaptures that sense of opening things up more."

This was a remarkable admission considering how much others in the White House have acted as if President Obama kept his promise to -- as he pledged as a candidate -- "have the (health care reform) negotiations televised on C-SPAN, so the people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents and who is making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies."

Michael Steele predicts GOP losses for 2010 (Video)

A couple of things on the GOP and Steele. First, Steele is releasing a book without the knowledge of the RNC, GOP. Yes, they are shocked. He has planned paid speeches, also without their knowledge and now the GOP can not control him.

Micheal Steele is all about MICHAEL STEELE. The GOP, RNC needs to get over it. It was their membership that put him in the chairmanship. Instead of the Republicans thinking through what they wanted in a leader of the RNC, they reacted to the election of Barack Obama and put the first black man in the seat. Bad move, horrible decision, now he is telling them to "shut up" or "fire him". If they do, you know the next set of statements is all about the GOP and RNC not being inclusive to minorities. And this is their biggest problem.

Steele is right about one thing in this interview with ABC, the Republicans are an antique party. They have not found their way to move forward and kudos to Steele for stating that out loud and acknowledging that the GOP will not recapture the House in 2010.

Lastly, with unemployment 10%, job losses continuing, the Republicans have a ripe opportunity to move forward with vision and populist themes, but as long as you have those in leadership who are still pumping 80s, Reagan themes, they will never move ahead. For this, the Democrats should be thankful in a year that the economy is taking a huge toll for many families.

Discrediting Fox News continues, David Axelrod on This Week on ABC (Video)

I don't care about Fox News, as a whole, but their continuous pounding of not reporting facts is a problem. How can you actually believe that this organization is fair and balanced when this organization continues to not report the facts but skew the facts. I am the first, and many know who read this blog, when Obama or his administration is bogus and I don't agree I state so with my reasons. My problems with Fox News has nothing to do with it slanting the conservative bend, it is not reporting the facts and have looney tunes as Glenn Beck as their national spokesman. Big problem. And Murdoch is all about making money, because if this network was serious about reporting the news, Glenn Beck and his antics would not be on Fox News.

And Rahm Emanuel on CNN's State of the Union, about Fox News:
