Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) on Palin, "Don't tell lies about health care reform"

As these town halls are going on around the country, one thing is for sure, the anger is manufactured by a small sliver of people pumped by the lobbyist and insurance companies. That is a fact. If anyone watch these town hall meetings, which is starting to turn many Americans OFF, their concerns are over the top and they sound very UNINFORMED. They come prepared with false talking points and this "don't take my medicare away" is a sure indication that these people don't understand nor do they know what they are talking about.

Sarah Palin has not helped the political discourse, period. For me, she is as smart, sharp as a box of rocks, and that is not much. She has been blasted by Senator Johnny Isakson and now Murkowski for out right lying about the health care bill and death panels.

Finally, the general public is looking and are not dumb. Seeing a man bring a gun to a presidential town hall meeting, no matter what side of the aisle you are on is not a good thing. If something happens out here to ANYONE, the finger pointing will definitely go back to the Republican Party, for their lack of moral responsibility and leadership.

U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski on Tuesday told an Anchorage crowd that critics of health care reform, the summer's hottest political topic, aren't helping the debate by throwing out highly charged assertions not based in fact.

"It does us no good to incite fear in people by saying that there's these end-of-life provisions, these death panels," Murkowski, a Republican, said. "Quite honestly, I'm so offended at that terminology because it absolutely isn't (in the bill). There is no reason to gin up fear in the American public by saying things that are not included in the bill."

Murkowski's analysis of the health-care reform measures was delivered to a Commonwealth North crowd of about 130 at the Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center. The nonpartisan group focuses on public policy issues.

Former Gov. Sarah Palin stirred up controversy last week by suggesting on her Facebook page that people like her parents and Down syndrome son might have to appear before "Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil."

Experts who have reviewed the various pieces of legislation, which run for hundreds of pages, say there's no such provision. read more here....

Frank Rich tells it like it is about Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin is about Sarah Palin. For anyone to think that she quit her post as Governor of Alaska, for Alaska is living in a bubble. Once she is officially done in a week or so, she will proudly march into the lower 48, grab her cash and never think about Alaska, AGAIN. That is what is going to happen, but Frank Rich puts it out there about Sarah Palin and her "Americanism".

The essence of Palinism is emotional, not ideological. Yes, she is of the religious right, even if she winks literally and figuratively at her own daughter’s flagrant disregard of abstinence and marriage. But family-values politics, now more devalued than the dollar by the philandering of ostentatiously Christian Republican politicians, can only take her so far. The real wave she’s riding is a loud, resonant surge of resentment and victimization that’s larger than issues like abortion and gay civil rights.

That resentment is in part about race, of course. When Palin referred to Alaska as “a microcosm of America” during the 2008 campaign, it was in defiance of the statistical reality that her state’s tiny black and Hispanic populations are unrepresentative of her nation. She stood for the “real America,” she insisted, and the identity of the unreal America didn’t have to be stated explicitly for audiences to catch her drift. Her convention speech’s signature line was a deftly coded putdown of her presumably shiftless big-city opponent: “I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.” (Funny how this wisdom has been forgotten by her supporters now that she has abandoned her own actual responsibilities in public office.)

I point out these two paragraphs because as I watched Palin in 2008's Election, I never understood how she could honestly say that Alaska was a microcosm of America, when in fact it is not. It has the fewest African-Americans and Latino voters, which is what the Republicans needed in the lower 48 to win, which they failed to get. I also did not get her thing about "real America", because the folks she needed to speak to like the "real Americans in cities and suburbs" in this country rejected her speak and voted for Obama/Biden. So, in other words, she just did not get much, at all.

Well, yes she did, she got the 25% of the hard right winged base of the Republican Patty, but again that won't win you the White House in the end. So, since she is not the Governor of Alaska, SOON, don't expect anymore apologies from the likes of David Letterman who has hammered her ever since she submitted her verbal resignation. And I mean he has not been NICE to Governor Palin, which goes back to politics and picking the battles you can win. In the end, let's just call it the way it is, she is a fraud and is the only excitement to a very dated party that needs rejuvenation. And if she is all they have to offer, they are in a very bad way for a very long time.

Pat Buchanan states that the First Dude, Todd Palin should take"Levi down to the creek and hold his head underwater until the thrashing stops" (Video)

This exchange happened on the morning joke or joe show on MSNBC. From none other that Pat Buchanan, MSNBCs resident racist.

First, Levi Johnston was on the NBCs Today Show giving his take on why Sarah Palin has all of a sudden quit her job as Governor of Alaska. He said it is about money for the Palins. And to be honest, IT IS. Again, she hit the lower 48 and loved the opportunity for making big money. Look, that is what she is doing and what she is about. Now is Johnston all candy and sweet, of course not, he is about money too. He knows the dirt and is willing to put it out there for a nice dollar amount. Lastly, Johnston states that Sarah Palin said it would be nice to "take the money and run." Nice coming from a reformer and a person who cares about the citizens of Alaska. What a joke.

Now, Pat Buchanan's ridiculous remarks:

Need an education? That is being too kind. Palin can't wait to leave Alaska and won't be back there much. Once you have tasted the lower 48, Alaska is so not with it. Sorry, but this is what is driving Palin. If she wants to run for the presidency, girlfriend needs serious books and needs to seriously study. What we saw during the 2008 Presidential Campaign is what we DON'T want, another dummy running around the White House. Been there, done that!!

Sarah Palin threatening lawsuits

One thing that many can say is this, she is one Drama Queen!!! Truly she is!! Here is the money paragraph:

To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as "fact" that Governor Palin resigned because she is "under federal investigation" for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation. This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law. The Alaska Constitution protects the right of free speech, while simultaneously holding those "responsible for the abuse of that right." Alaska Constitution Art. I, Sec. 5. http://ltgov.state.ak.us/... These falsehoods abuse the right to free speech; continuing to publish these falsehoods of criminal activity is reckless, done without any regard for the truth, and is actionable.

Thomas Van Flein, for
Governor Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin is a public figure. Period. In accepting the VP slot with McCain in 2008, vetting her was appropriate because no one heard of her. Palin put her kids, family front and center, she did that and in doing so families are vetted, too. Don't believe me? Ask the Obamas. Now I don't know why she is leaving her office after only 2-1/2 years, but if there is any indication from that bizarre press conference yesterday, the only thing I can conclude is that she is not one who does well when the heat is up or a fire in the kitchen. In other words, she just bailed because it got too hard. I expect her to make mega bucks, that is the direction she is going and she will get it, but as far as politics she is done.

Politics is a hard ball sport and if you can't take the knocks and know how to fight, then you don't need to be in the game. As we see, she does not.

Sarah Palin RESIGNING as Governor of Alaska

It is all about RUNNING FOR POTUS IN 2012...

Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her Wasilla home Friday morning.

Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor's Picnic at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks on Saturday, July 25, Palin said.

There was no immediate word as to why she will resign, though speculation has been rampant that the former vice presidential candidate is gearing up for a run at the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

Palin made the announcement flanked by Parnell and most, if not all, of her cabinet.

Parnell ran unsuccessfully against Rep. Don Young in the Republican primary last year.

The stunning announcement by Palin opens the floodgates for the 2010 gubernatorial race. Speculation that Palin might not seek re-election had fueled further conjecture of who might run.

She has a lot of damage repair to do. And it is all about getting out of ALASKA, when you have tasted the lower 48, Alaska is nothing to go back home to cheer about. Sorry, that is how she sees it.

Fake Republican Governors (Video)

These governors, Sanford of South Carolina, Jindal of Louisiana, and Palin of Alaska proudly stated they would reject some stimulus money. Well, when you have unemployment like South Carolina does over 11%, folks hurting and in need of unemployment extensions as in Louisiana, pressure comes in all forms. These governors state legislators and the constituents are putting the pressure on these governors, they appear to play politics over governing. Well, like deers in the headlights, they all BLINKED. Bristol Palin breaks off engagement because she does not want to be associated with "WHITE TRASH?"

Can we say pot calling the kettle black?

Some folks really got nerve. nuff said.

Who didn't see this coming? Star magazine reports that Sarah Palin's 18-year-old daughter, Bristol, has broken off her engagement with her child's father, Levi Johnston. His sister Mercede told the tabloid that "Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol makes it nearly impossible. She tells him he can't take the baby to our house because she doesn't want him around 'white trash'!" She also claims that Bristol ended their relationship more than a month ago, despite Palin's daughter proclaiming all was well in an interview last month with Greta Van Susteren. Their child, Tripp, is two months old. If the report is true, what will Levi do with the tattoo of Bristol's name he has on his ring finger?

Bristol Palin's future mother-in-law busted for drug possession

Damn, did NOT want to give anyone with the name of PALIN another paragraph, but DAMN...

Future mother in law busted for drug possession? WTH???

A 42-year-old Wasilla woman was arrested Thursday at her home by Alaska State Troopers with a search warrant in an undercover drug investigation. Sherry L. Johnston was charged with six felony counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance.

Johnston is the mother of Levi Johnston, the Wasilla 18-year-old who received international attention in September when Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, announced their teenage daughter was pregnant and he was the father. Bristol Palin, 18, is due on Saturday, according to a recent interview with the governor's father, Chuck Heath.

Troopers served the warrant at Johnston's home at the "conclusion of an undercover narcotics investigation," said a statement issued Thursday by the troopers as part of the normal daily summary of activity around the state.

Troopers charged Johnston with second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance -- generally manufacturing or delivering drugs -- as well as fourth-degree misconduct involving controlled substances, or possession.

And grandma, manufacturing and delivering drugs too? What kind of role model is that? Sounds like a meth thing, to me.

That Alaska Senate Seat is Looking, Mighty Good the Lead Expands

Seems like Democratic Candidate, Mark Begich, Mayor of Alaska has taken a lead of 814 against Senator Ted Stevens, that is convicted Senator Ted Stevens.

There is more vote to tally, but it seems that these votes are from districts that lean Begich.

Now, if we can just get the senate seats for Al Franken in Minnesota and Jim Martin in Geogia. The Minnesota race too close to call and Georgia race is heading to a run-off December 2nd.

Obama Evening Wrap Up. Who will get Obama's senate seat?

Downtown Chicago

••

Who will be appointed to Obama's Senate Seat?

This is the open question around the Chicagoland area.

We saw Obama with Illinois State Director of Veterans Affairs, Tammy Duckworth, yesterday. Her name is swirling around on the short list.

We have Jesse Jackson, Jr. who is on every television show ALLOWED, touting and pushing his interest in this senate seat, and privately stating it should be given to an African-American. Sigh. He even commissioned Zogby to poll citizens of Illinois and though he came out ahead, the poll is dubious. The poll only cites 21% in favor of Jackson, Jr., which means many are not paying attention, yet.

538 has rumor of Illinois State Senate Leader, Emil Jones, being assigned this seat for the last two years of the Obama term. The issue is his age. Mr. Jones is resigning in January, he is 73 years old, and if anyone know Illinois politics he is of the "old school pols" on the track of Daley. Would he be a good choice? Legislatively, yes, politically, I don't know. He would kill two stones. He is African-American, and those that want this seat will have to battle it out in the 2010 primairies.

Others being mentioned are Rep. Jan Schakowsky (IL-9), a good choice but her husband was indicted and convicted on federal charges of operating three check kiting schemes that defrauded banks of at least $2.3 million. He served 5 months in federal prison. Don't think this issue won't be brought up on the trail? It will.

Another name being touted is Dan Seals. He lost his second congressional battle against Mark Kirk (R-IL-10). He too, would fill the void of being African-American, mirrors Obama quite a bit, and is much younger. But, he is a dark horse candidate.

Governor Blagojevich (D-IL) will have the final call on who will replace Obama, but let us not think or believe that Obama will not have any input, he will.

Read more on Obama's replacement, here.

••

This is why Joe Lieberman, should not retain his chairmanship.

Minnesota, Alaska and Georgia Senate Update

I lived in Minnesota for 6 years, it is a state of independence. Remember, they voted Jesse Ventura for Governor.

Al Franken is poised to probably win this seat. Probably.

When Minnesotans woke up last Wednesday, Republican Senator Norm Coleman led Mr. Franken by 725 votes. By that evening, he was ahead by only 477. As of yesterday, Mr. Coleman's margin stood at 206. This lopsided bleeding of Republican votes is passing strange considering that the official recount hasn't even begun.

Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN) has twice announced that he was the winner. Even asking Al Franken to concede and not allow a recount, but that request is out of Coleman's hands. Minnesota's law is mandatory recount if under 1% and this race is under 1%.

Coleman even went to court to try to stop 32 ballots from being counted, the judge denied the request.

Coleman's real fear is the undervote that will be examined by the recount/canvass board starting next week. All ballots will go through a hand recount next week. Many of these undervote ballots are in Hennepin (Minneapolis), Ramsey (St. Paul) and St. Louis (Brooklyn Center) counties, all strong holds of Democratic voters.

But Coleman has other problems. A group in Minnesota is requesting an FBI investigation into allegations that Sen. Norm Coleman's family received $75,000 in potentially illegal payments from a friend and benefactor. This was cited in a debate in Minnesota in which Coleman targeted Franken for attacking his wife, but Franken stated that he was not attacking his wife, but Coleman's "political sugar daddy." Yes, only in Minnesota.

Both Coleman and Franken are getting lawyered up, expect this to go to court after the hand recount. Florida anyone?

As for Alaska.

We all know Senator Ted Stevens was convicted, and is now a felon. He could not even vote for himself. We also know, if he wins this seat the senate is talking about expulsion. And he should be kicked out. We can't have a senator walking around capitol hill who is convicted, what kind of message is that sending? He has already been called upon to resign by colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

Well, the Democratic Candidate, Mark Begich was 3500 votes behind. Alaska has NOW started to count the upwards of 100,000 early vote and absentee ballots, now Begich is 971 behind, Anchorage Daily now reporting Begich is up by 3 votes. Begich was in the lead in polling up to the day of the election, by many organizations and many was wondering what the hell happened for Stevens being ahead. Well, since the votes are being counted, Begich just might win this seat.

Update: here

And Georgia.

Lastly, the Georgia Senate Seat is going for a December 2nd runoff. The law in Georgia is that the candidate must get 50% of the vote.

The tough part for the Democratic Candidate, Jim Martin, is to get everyone to vote again, in fact that may be an issue for Senator Saxby Chambliss.

The Obama Campaign are sending staff to Georgia and have their offices open. Will Obama make an appearance? I don't know. That could be a double edge sword, we are talking about Georgia.

It would rev up the black vote, but also rev up the voters who did not vote Obama.

This is stictly a GOTV runoff, whoever get their voters to the polls will win this thing.
