The Republican Party, just sit back and grab your popcorn (UPDATE)

Much is being said about Dede Scozzafava, the Republican candidate dropping out of the special election race for NY-23 against the conservative or independent candidate, Bill Hoffman and the conservative Democrat, Bill Owens.

This district which sits on Niagra Falls has been Republican for over 100 years, dating back to the 1860s, so for anyone to expect the Democrat to win, well he won't. But, what has been fascinating is the insurgency of Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck destroying Scozzafava by denouncing she is not conservative enough, defying the Republican Party to get someone more pure to ideological ideals of these nitwits. The second part of this drama is the lack, weakness of the Republican Party, the RNC, GOP to stop this nonsense. The leadership from congress to state level act like they are afraid to stop the alienation of moderates from the Republican Party. In fact, they are more stale, pale and male than ever. Scozzafava got no help, cover, anything from the National Republican Party, thus she ran in defeat.

Again, the Republicans will jump for joy on winning NY-23, but this is their district anyway. Who is in charge of a long term strategy to allow the Republican Party to become more inclusive? Right now, this party is a bunch of old white men, who continue to ponder about a party and country of the 1950s, instead of looking at this country the way it is, 2009. That is their real problem and that is why this purity strategy will not work going forward.

Clip from David Plouffe, Campaign Manager of Obama for America 2008:

And a must read from Frank Rich, The G.O.P. Stalinists Invade Upstate New York
BARACK OBAMA’S most devilish political move since the 2008 campaign was to appoint a Republican congressman from upstate New York as secretary of the Army. This week’s election to fill that vacant seat has set off nothing less than a riotous and bloody national G.O.P. civil war. No matter what the results in that race on Tuesday, the Republicans are the sure losers. This could be a gift that keeps on giving to the Democrats through 2010, and perhaps beyond.

The governors’ races in New Jersey and Virginia were once billed as the marquee events of Election Day 2009 — a referendum on the Obama presidency and a possible Republican “comeback.” But preposterous as it sounds, the real action migrated to New York’s 23rd, a rural Congressional district abutting Canada. That this pastoral setting could become a G.O.P. killing field, attracting an all-star cast of combatants led by Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, William Kristol and Newt Gingrich, is a premise out of a Depression-era screwball comedy. But such farces have become the norm for the conservative movement — whether the participants are dressing up in full “tea party” drag or not.

The battle for upstate New York confirms just how swiftly the right has devolved into a wacky, paranoid cult that is as eager to eat its own as it is to destroy Obama. The movement’s undisputed leaders, Palin and Beck, neither of whom has what Palin once called the “actual responsibilities” of public office, would gladly see the Republican Party die on the cross of right-wing ideological purity. Over the short term, at least, their wish could come true.

[snip]

The wrecking crew of Kristol, Fred Thompson, Dick Armey, Michele Bachmann, The Wall Street Journal editorial page and the government-bashing Club for Growth all joined the Hoffman putsch. Then came the big enchilada: a Hoffman endorsement from Palin on her Facebook page. Such is Palin’s clout that Steve Forbes, Rick Santorum and Tim Pawlenty, the Minnesota governor (and presidential aspirant), promptly fell over one another in their Pavlovian rush to second her motion. They were joined by far-flung Republican congressmen from Kansas, Georgia, Oklahoma and California, not to mention a gaggle of state legislators from Colorado. On Fox News, Beck took up the charge, insinuating that Hoffman’s Republican opponent might be a fan of Karl Marx. Some $3 million has now been dumped into this race by outside groups.

You know the Republican Party has issues when Newt Gingrich, who supported the Republican candidate, Dede Scozzafava, is now not conservative enough. Yes, this party has major issues.

UPDATE
Dede Scozzafava, endorsed the Democratic Candidate, Bill Owens for the NY-23 seat. Totally, a bat shit crazy race.
State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava (R), who dropped from the special election in Upstate New York yesterday, has now thrown her support to Democrat Bill Owens.

"It's not in the cards for me to be your representative, but I strongly believe Bill is the only candidate who can build upon John McHugh's lasting legacy in the U.S. Congress," said Scozzafava in a statement released moments ago.

It's not clear how much Scozzafava's backing of Owens will change the race. Democratic strategists, who just 48 hours ago saw the race moving back in their direction, have grown pessimistic about their chances in the aftermath of the Scozzafava decision.

Rush Limbaugh DROPPED from the St. Louis Rams bid (Video)

From the Ed Schultz Show:

Again, no one is surprised. The NFL don't want this drama, truly they don't.

Home Page

(Update) Indianapolis Colts owner on Rush Limbaugh owning the St. Louis Rams NFL franchise is basically, NO

Well, again, words do matter. Actions do matter. How you conduct yourself in the open DOES matter and Rush Limbaugh is finding this out the hard way.

The NFL would be incredibly STUPID to allow Rush Limbaugh, now he is stating, "I would be a minority owner", to have anything to do with the NFL. Limbaugh is trying to beat back his constant inflammatory comments over the years, but with little success. When you call the majority of African Americans who play in the NFL a bunch of "Crips and Bloods but without the weapons", did he think the NFL would welcome him with open arms?

Sometimes, when you have a shit load of money, what you STAND FOR does matter. That is the NFL.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said this afternoon that the divisive rhetoric of prospective Rams minority owner Rush Limbaugh makes him unappealing.

"I myself couldn't even think of voting for him," said Irsay speaking from the NFL's fall ownership meetings in Boston.

Asked if he'd spoken to other owners about Limbaugh's candidacy, Irsay said, "I haven't and I don't think I would even go to the point of talking to Tony Dungy, Jim Caldwell, Dwight Freeney, talking to those men and seeing what their positions are. I'm very sensitive to know there are scars out there. I think as a nation we need to stop it. Our words do damage and it's something that we don't need. We need to get to a higher level of humanity and we have.

"I come from a different era where Marvin Gaye and John Lennon were speaking about [certain things] and we've been doing a slow crawl to some of the things they talked about. We don't need to go the other way," Irsay added. "We can't go the other way where there isn't forgiveness and understanding but we gotta watch our words in this world and our thoughts because they can do damage."

My, my talking about Marvin Gaye and John Lennon, both men who recorded, repeatedly social records back in the day. They spoke about racial divide, the environment, and giving PEACE A CHANCE. Rush Limbaugh does not qualify in any of those categories.

Lastly, when a NFL owner comes out and one well respected as Irsay, you are a DONE DEAL. Now the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell weighs in:
"I've said many times before we're all held to a high standard here, and I think divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about," Goodell said at an NFL owners' meeting. "I would not want to see those comments coming from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL, absolutely not."

King Rush, "Its been one."

From Hardball on Rush Limbaugh's bid to purchase the St. Louis Rams (Video)

In the end, the NFL's perception is a league of unity not divisiveness and I believe Limbaugh with all his quotes that have come back to haunt him, in the end the NFL will say thanks for the application but no thanks to Limbaugh.

NFL Players Union "opposes" Rush Limbaugh's purchase of the St. Louis Rams

Remember what Rush said about Donovan McNabb? He was quickly removed from ABC's Monday Night Football. Why? Because everything he said was race related and flatly WRONG. That is why.

The NFL Players Union has every right to be very suspect and skeptical of Rush Limbaugh's purchase of the St. Louis Rams or any franchise to that degree.

King Rush's, as I call him, whole existence resolves around controversy, making ludicrous and ridiculous statements about people, and many times his fact checking on what he says is dead wrong, but it is this type of outrageous crap that has kept him burning the radio waves. So now he wants a NFL franchise?

Many players of the NFL are of color, so their feeling about the hate rhetoric that has repeatedly come out of Limbaugh's mouth is warranted. Why would anyone want to play for someone who wants the President of the United States to fail, has called the President "Barack the Magic Negro", stuck by the Nazi, Marxist and Hitler rhetoric, and then just be cool about Rush owning a team they play for. These players are not FEELIN' THAT. And we won't even go into what he has said about Michelle Obama and many Latino Americans in this country because I would need a book to write about it.

NFL don't do it. Do not give Rush Limbaugh a NFL franchise. He is a prime example of what an owner of a football team should not be, DIVISIVE.

NFL Players executive director DeMaurice Smith on Saturday made a move to solidify the union against a bid by conservative talk show radio host Rush Limbaugh as part of a group that aims to purchase the St. Louis Rams.

In an e-mail to the union's executive committee on Saturday specifically addressing Limbaugh's bid, Smith said, "I've spoken to the Commissioner [Roger Goodell] and I understand that this ownership consideration is in the early stages. But sport in America is at its best when it unifies, gives all of us reason to cheer, and when it transcends. Our sport does exactly that when it overcomes division and rejects discrimination and hatred."

Limbaugh and St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts are among six potential ownership groups that have discussed buying the Rams. League sources say the current sale price has ranged from $700-to-$750 million but that there did not appear to be an imminent transaction.

On Sunday, Smith briefly elaborated, "This communication is more about what we stand for than the reality of our role in any franchise sale. While it's true the subject matter was related [to Limbaugh's bid], I do understand that the NFL does not present ownership bids to me or the NFLPA. I encourage our players to express their views."

At least seven NFL players have publicly opposed Limbaugh's interest in purchasing the Rams with Checketts. In Smith's communication Saturday with his executive committee, the union leader encouraged players to speak their mind on all matters, including Limbaugh's bid. read more here.....

Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), "...I don't see racism in the Republican Party" (Video)

Wow.

Really?

You don't see it in your own party?

The very same party that has called Judge Sonia Sotomayor every name in the book but the Mother of God?

The very same party that has called our own, President Barack Obama EVERY NAME in the book?

Damn, you have a very narrow scope or vision, Senator DeMint.

But why should he see it any other way?

He is a white male that has had it pretty well and easy his entire life.

But, he is also a man that must face the facts. This country is changing and the minority will be someone like HIM in the next few years down the road. He did NOTHING to help any discourse in the Sotomayor confirmation hearing, in fact he did everything but to help his party bring back the Latino vote they drastically lost in 2008.

As we saw in the video above, DeMint is in leadership role but took NO LEADERSHIP in denouncing the derogatory statements by the likes of Rush Limbaugh or even the idiot, Glenn Beck.

The town hall chaos has many reading about it, in shock and many are alarmed, and they should be. We should be able to go into the library, park, high school gym, sit, muster, collaborate, discuss and disagree all the issues with our state representatives. We should not be exposed to what is going on around this country at primarily DEMOCRATIC town hall meetings, not with these lunatics. It is disgraceful and dangerous.

Finally, Rachel Maddow was in rare form again, tonight she interviewed one of the main persons behind all the chaos we are reading about and seeing on television, Tim Phillips. This man is President of Americans for Prosperity, A.K.A., Lobbyists to keep Corporations Prosperous.

All of this should be an eyeopener and a definite call to action, for each and everyone of us.

Radio Ad going after King Rush and the Republicans for their racism against Judge Sonia Sotomayor (Audio)

Again, I said that if these Republicans think that the Latino community has their heads in the sand, think again. The Republican Party's poll numbers have fallen and just eroded with their racist remarks against Sonia Sotomayor within the Latino community. Did they think these folks were asleep? Not hearing what is and was being said? Telemundo and Univision have been ON IT with all these comments and believe me, the Latino community is fully engaged and KNOWS what is going on, being said.

As we saw today with the Republican Senators during the confirmation, they praised Judge Sotomayor and then turned their guns to President Obama. I don't know if that will work, but the Republicans just need to get real here, they don't have the votes and Judge Sotomayor is going to be the next sitting Associate Justice on the Supreme Court. GUARANTEED. These ads are airing in Florida, home to King Rush!!!

Right Wingers have now turned their guns to Shepard Smith of Fox News (Video)

Well, after Shepard Smith gave his honest opinion of what happened after the Holocaust Museum shooting, even going to the length to say that maybe, Napolitano's report about domestic terrorists was correct, here comes the right wingers after him. They are definitely blasting him about the right wing hate email that he receives, the clip below:

So, King Rush with his right winged lackey, Michelle Malkin are after Smith, hot and heavy:

LIMBAUGH: As for Shepard Smith whining and moaning and complaining about e-mails, nobody needs to tell me about hateful e-mails, for crying out loud. I get the most vile, sick e-mails attacking me as a “Jew lover” that you can imagine. I don’t read ‘em. I hear about them. They’re in a public account, of course, as you know — and I’m a conservative. Who do you think these hate e-mails from coming from? Where are they coming from? Yeah, I get people, “You Jew lover, you Jew lover!” because I am faithful to Israel and a number of other things.

So, Shep, you got nothing on anybody out there. The vile hate that was 24/7 in most of the American media for the eight years of Bush — and particularly from 2003 on after the Iraq war — nobody, nobody at this point in time has ever done, in our society, anything comparable to the kind of hate that we got from mainstream sources.

And from Malkin's Hot Air:
Take a group of people who are politically conscious, add Internet access and anonymity, and elect the other party’s guy president and voila: You’ve got a perfect petri dish in which to grow your very own nutroots culture. And no, before people start whining, of course I’m not saying that everyone who fits those criteria is nutroots. Just that we’re seeing a strain of paranoia in some righty blog comments since The One took office that was formerly relegated to lefty assertions about how the Bushitler would cancel the elections and declare himself king or whatever. If that were Shep’s point, it’d be fair enough; as it is, this is his hamfisted attempt to draw a straight line between dopey “Hussein” invective and the sort of decades-long dementia displayed by the Jew-loathing nut who pulled a shotgun in the Holocaust Museum today. (And who, by the way, hated neoconservatives generally and the GOP’s last two nominees for president in particular.) I don’t know how else to read this clip except as Shep warning America that his own viewership is teeming with would-be presidential assassins. If he truly believes that, why doesn’t he quit? How can his conscience stand it?

For Smith to keep it honest, obviously is not shared by the many conservative writers out there. They want him gone and have started to rally this cry loud and strong. read it all here...

Hardball's panel on the right winged hate, including the continuous hate of Michelle Malkin and Rush Limbaugh (Video)

If the GOP wants to resurrect itself, it needs to cure its addiction to hate and bigotry

That is the reality, here. As long as the GOP continues to let all these right winged noise makers, craft and align their party to just old males who are pale and stale, then they will continue to have issues. Lastly, put the Lee Atwater playbook down. The book which divides this country on wedge issues, racial issues, social issues, sexual issues, this playbook is not relevant today. Why? Well, look at the make up of this country now, it is a melting pot of diversity and many are not welcomed into the Republican Party because they are not male, pale or stale. That is why. The more this old bigoted playbook is used by the GOP, the more they alienate the very voter they NEED.

King Rush and lackeys, "Boycott GM" (Video)

Oh brother.

Does the Republican Party want to ever make in-roads outside of the South? If they do, it certainly is not this way.

This is all about wanting President Obama to fail.

A pair of right-wing radio hosts says there's only one choice for conservatives angry about government involvement in the auto industry: Boycott GM.

"Nobody wants to support an Obama company," Rush Limbaugh told his audience Friday, citing a poll showing that 17 percent of Americans backed a boycott of GM.

"Every dollar spent with GM is a dollar spent against free enterprise," conservative talker Hugh Hewitt wrote online last week.

Conservatives in Congress and elsewhere have criticized the federally sponsored restructuring plan GM will seek to execute in bankruptcy court.

The plan would give the federal government a 60 percent ownership stake in the company; lawmakers such as Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., have labeled that socialism.
The popular, controversial Limbaugh didn't outright call for a boycott, but said he understood why people would want to avoid GM vehicles. "They don't want to patronize Obama. They don't want to do anything to make Obama's policies work."

A GM spokesman declined to comment Monday.

But the Democratic National Committee, which has spent plenty of time in recent months cataloging Limbaugh's calls for the failure of President Barack Obama's economic policies, leapt at the chance to do so again.

"While it's not surprising that Rush Limbaugh would root for the failure of a national institution for partisan political gain, it is surprising that the other so-called leaders of the Republican party are silently going along with him given how many hard working Americans rely on GM for a living," said DNC spokesman Hari Sevugan.
