Michelle Obama Inaugural Gown (Pictures)

It is a split decision, my take, just ok. Some folks do like it, bottomline it won't be memorable down memory lane. Was Michelle beautiful? Absolutely. Just an ok dress for a memorable night.

Her full-skirted dress had a strap across her right shoulder, a ruched bodice, fluffy appliques and sparkly beading. Mrs. Obama is wearing a Jason Wu gown this evening, which per tradition, will be donated to the Smithsonian.

Michelle's dress not my choice but was very feminine and appropriate for a time of war and these economic times.

Keep up the great work.
Blessings
Great pics! It's great to have such normal-looking Pres and Vice-Pres couples. They seem to really like each other.

Michelle Obama had the most wonderful and sophisticated outfit on when they boarded the train in Philadelphia. Her coat and skirt outfit that she wore the next day was nicely designed and tailored. The colors looked good on her too.

The gown didn't work. She couldn't dance in it. Michelle also has a great figure and it was obliterated by the cut and seaming of the dress and the flower things. Just as well that it gets donated to the Smithsonian.

I can't believe that I am going on and on about the First Lady's outfits. She is a brilliant and accomplished woman who will bring great things to the position of First Lady. I look forward to watching her during the next four years and she develops in her role.

Agree. I think that Michelle did make a decision at the last minute and she had several gowns to choose from. What happened is that she did not have time to have the gown altered. The dress dragged. Look at Jill Biden's dress which was altered and then Michelle's. Michelle has such a great figure, the dress did nothing for her, IMO. Lastly, my first thought viewing her dress was "high school prom", then as I was roving the cable stations a fashion critic said the same thing, "high school prom". Let's hope her next serious events, she will take serious thought in the "gown" selection.
I am sorry, but I disagree with many of you. I think Michelle looked absolutely beautiful in that gown! It also looks as if Obama really liked it as well, and honestly, if President Obama liked First Lady Obama's Ball gown, then that is all that matters!

First Lady Obama looked absolutely beautiful in her gown. It's not about the dress. It is about how she exudes beauty!

I loved Michell's dress it was awesome!! She looked like an Angel. Very gracful and elagent. To each his or her own. Matter of fact i ;loved all of her outfits!
Michele's dress did not convey her class. It made her frumpy, and she is very regal. Also, the train was a tactical nightmare with all of the dancing of the evening. I loved her gold dress earlier in the day. I feel she is a hit and miss with wardrobe. The fabric was too heavy, and just too much everything.
Bad choice for the gown. It did absolutely nothing for her. More understated elegance would suit her.
What about the President's tux? Any comment on that? The point is they looked wonderful together because they exude joy in who they are and what they have together. The conversation about what she wears, who she wears, how she looks, etc... needs to just be done. It's sexist and it's a double standard.
it was not the most flattering gown she could have worn. The dress was too long, i.e. badly needed alteration plus it made her look bottom heavy NOT FAT there was no balance between the top and bottom. It was also too square. I have that problem. she just repeated her own squareness which took the balance off. the asymetic look is what she needs but it was done in 90 degree angles. With a few changes she would have looked fabulous and would have been the talk of the town. the only reason i really was looking was the big hype before, if no hype i would not have been looking so deeply.
Loved the dress - but t was too long!
Part of an outfit looking really great is the FIT. As First Lady, Michelle will now have the ability to have the best seamstresses making sure that her outfits fit perfectly.

I did not like Jill Biden's dress as I do not think strapless was appropriate for her.
I liked Jill Biden's dress. I thought the red looked great on her. I usually love Michelle's fashion sense, but I do agree it doesn't tend to be hit and miss sometimes. Personally, I wouldn't have chosen the inauguration ball gown she did. However, I also wouldn't have been able to pull it off - and I thought she did pull it off..but nothing more, nothing less. Although her choice was fresh and youthful which is nice, I would've liked to see her in something more elegant and flattering.
