    Roosevelt also had to save the banks first before he could help the rest of us. That is the only way out of a severe recession. Imagine the alternative to the celebrations now taking place on Wall Street: banks still losing money, the financial system about to collapse, no lending taking place therefore companies unable to purchase assets or equipment, property values continuing to fall, the stock market continuing to drop. Under that scenario, Congress would be debating articles of impeachment right now, and we would certainly not be talking about the possibility of passing landmark health care reform legislation.
