Chavez gave President Obama a gift, a book.
The Venezuelan's office reported Chavez told Obama: "With this same hand I greeted Bush eight years ago. I want to be your friend."
Chavez is one of those leaders that you keep one eye on your back. Sure, many Latin American leaders are angry at the US, especially for the Cuba situation, for that it is understandable, but with the Bush Administration gone and many hard core anti-Castro folks diminishing, there is no reason for the Obama Administration not to go forward with open dialouge. This 2009, not 1959, the embargo against Cuba should have been lifted YEARS AGO, now it looks like it is heading in that direction.
pssssttttt....the book in question, "Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent" was number 60,280 on amazon.com, Friday, today number 10 on amazon.com. Oprah, move over, there is a new "O" in town.....
