Obama's Town Hall Meeting On-Line Today

Interesting concept.

One thing I do give the Obama Administration credit for, they try everything when it comes to keeping in touch with the American public. The reason for the credit is because it is easy to get caught up in the "D.C. bubble". Easy to listen to the chatter in D.C. and forget what the folks in the rest of the country are saying. Ask George W. Bush, who hardly ever left Washington, D.C. He left office one of the most out of touch presidents we had.

Today President Obama will participate in an online town hall meeting at 11:30AM EST, voting closes at 9:30A EST.

"Here's how it works,'' explains Mitch Stewart, director of Organizing for America, the permanent Obama campaign that the DNC is overseeing. "President Obama is inviting everyone to ask a question about the economy and to rate other questions up or down.''

Thursday morning, the president will conduct an online "town hall" on the economy and answer some of the most popular questions live.

"This first round will deal with the economy,'' Stewart is telling supporters of the president in an email. "Americans deserve to know what their government is doing to get our economy back on track.''

President Obama, Dallas, TX says they have not had funds for Section 8 housing for disabled senior citizens in over 8 yrs. and will not take my application. Some apartment managers say this is not true. I don't feel this is true. I have been living with my son for the last 5 yrs, who is a heavy smoker. This causes me to have serious asthma attacks. This is not good along with Congenital Heart, Diabetes, etc. (22 prescriptions). Every resource I have spoken with has led me nowhere. I only receive 815 from Social Security Disability and I seriously need help with rent assistance. I hope I still have an insurance policy at AIG!!! Thank you in advance for any opportunity/contact to afford my own low income housing. Shirley

Mr President, I am a small natural gas broker. the gas companies are sropping drilling and laying off contractors right and left. it will take 18 months just to get a bit back into the ground. What can be done to force drilling to resume. respectfully Ray
Mr President, I am a graphic designer in the arts community. Because most industries are cutting back, advertising and promotions budgets are the first to cutback. History shows that the government once had the WPA program in support of the artist in America. As an artist are there any programs developed by your administration in support of the arts community.
I work billing insurance in the medical field. I spend countless hours with the help of a lot of coders figuring out what code needs to be used so we can be paid. Every insurance has a different code for the same thing. I think we need to required these to be the same across the board. I also think that we need to have a national insurance registry where we can verify what insurance a person has and what order they need to be billed in. This is another time consuming thing we have to deal with! There also needs to be a place where patients and providers can go to see what is covered by a persons policy. Right now we have no way to help a customer with this as we don't find out until it is paid or denied. I think this is simply silly! There is just too much time spent on things like this making the system incomprehensible for the average person much less those who deal with it on a daily basis. Also for health and social reasons people on public assistance should have access to circumcision for boys. I think it is a disservice to these children that they can only receive it in cases of medical emergency or for religious reasons.
