Blagojevich will not fill Obama's Senate Seat

This is a no brainer. Duh.

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich won’t appoint anyone to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama, his lawyer said today.

Ed Genson, the prominent Chicago criminal attorney who is representing Blagojevich, was asked at a news conference in Springfield, Ill., if Blagojevich was planning to appoint anyone against the wishes of Democrats, including Obama.

“No,” Genson replied. “(U.S. Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid said that they’re not going to accept anybody he picks. Why would he do that?” Genson was in the Illinois capital for a hearing before a committee of lawmakers deciding whether they should recommend impeaching Blagojevich.

After these events have sullied the process, this is the very least Blagojevich can do.
