Obama Morning Break. Hell in a Hat Basket.

Barack in Washington, DC at the "Bailout Meeting"

••

Hell in a Hat Basket

This happens when all hell breaks loose and it is DAILY.

First, the Bailout. I wrote yesterday that many joes and joesettas across this country are quietly calling their congress-critters and saying "NO BAILOUT". Thus, we see the fracture in the Republican House Members saying, NO.

We saw that President Bush is indeed a lame duck. That the House Republicans told Dick Cheney, "don't let the door knob, hit ya'", and that John McCain has no pull in his party. That leaves us with no bailout.

Secondly, I have been writing about WaMu (Washington Mutual) for a while. Well, it went belly up, the largest banking failure in American History. But what I find more fascinating is that the feds took over, quickly, quietly and after the market closed. Then once they took over, they already had a deal set up with J.P. Morgan/Chase to take over WaMu's assets. WaMu was mired in the mortgage mess, much bad paper on the books, and rumor of it going down has been on the street for weeks. Oh, since September 15th WaMu's depositors took their money out and went ELSEWHERE, leaving a more than 15B deficit. Wow, that is what I call consumer confidence.

Thirdly, Sarah Palin. The McCain Campaign is stressed out now, but must be glad that Sarah Palin is under the radar. It is clear that she is not ready, equipped for the job of Vice-President. Palin’s interview with Katie Couric had many watching with their jaws dropped. But that is not enough, CBS has been releasing more clips that did not make the initial interview and all I can say is that in the end Palin will be looked upon as more of a hindrance than help.

Palin is totally clueless on national security and foreign policy. She continues to justify her dumb answer on why Russia, Alaska being a neighbor touts her "foreign policy experience." Listening to her answer questions reminds me of the fatal flaw of that Miss South Carolina for the Miss Teen USA Pageant. Remember that jaw dropping moment? As in, "she is dumber than a box of rocks", moment? This is the caricature that is becoming Sarah Palin. Whether fair or not, no one can clearly state that she is ready to become the next Vice President of the United States. Even Conservative Columnist, Katleen Parker states the following:

Palin's recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I've been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I've also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there's not much content there.

We already have someone dumber than a box of rocks in the White House; we don't need another one who is a heartbeat away from the presidency.

See more of the Katie Couric interview, here. And look for CBS to release more clips of the Palin interview, today.

Debate Tonight, University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS, 9 PM EST

Will McCain be there, since he is all of a sudden worried about the economy?

My take, YES.

McCain can not afford to by-step this debate. The polling already shows that Americans want to see the debate. Will he let Obama have the stage alone? That would be stupid, plus we are looking at upwards of 100 million viewers.

Expect this debate to be about the economy, along with foreign policy.
