About DAMN time, Majority Leader Harry Reid

It is time to WHIP the Democratic Senators towards health care reform, period. We have 60 damn votes in the senate, there is NO DAMN REASON that we should not pass this vitally important piece of legislation. About time, Harry Reid is finally showing us he is a LEADER.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Tuesday strongly urged Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) to drop a proposal to tax health benefits and stop chasing Republican votes on a massive health care reform bill.

Reid, whose leadership is considered crucial if President Barack Obama is to deliver on his promise of enacting health care reform this year, offered the directive to Baucus through an intermediary after consulting with Senate Democratic leaders during Tuesday morning’s regularly scheduled leadership meeting. Baucus met with Finance ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on Tuesday afternoon to relay the information.

According to Democratic sources, Reid told Baucus that taxing health benefits and failing to include a strong government-run insurance option of some sort in his bill would cost 10 to 15 Democratic votes; Reid told Baucus that several in the Conference had serious concerns and that it wasn’t worth securing the support of Grassley and at best a few additional Republicans. read it all here....

Did you read the above?

Running around the senate halls with your pants at your knees for a few, it THAT, Republican votes?

Look the Republicans are not going to vote on ANYTHING President Obama presents, I mean they are not voting, so is it in our best interest to continue to chase after them? When the Democrats have 60 votes? One word, NO.

Health care reform is what many in this country VOTED FOR. This issue is what put Barack Obama in office along with many of these wayside Democrats. Now is the time to use the whip and whip the Democrats in order to pass this health care bill, including a STRONG PUBLIC OPTION.

Bad Poll Numbers for Obama on the economy in Ohio

I don't care what anyone says. When Joe Biden went on "This Week" and said, "We misread the economy", he created a talking point against this administration about the economy.

Also, don't think that the jobless, unemployment numbers are not a worry for this administration. It is a huge worry. Everytime Americans hear more folks on the unemployment rolls, they become more conscientious of their own jobs, money, etc. And everytime someone gets a pink slip that is creating more anxiety out here.

Sure we all know that Obama inherited this mess, but you can only blame the Bush Administration for so long. Eventually, this adminstration must have some hits coming with this economy and hope for job erosion to slow down. Again, the stimulus package is either a win or a bust. We will know by next year, I hope.

President Barack Obama's approval rating in Ohio has fallen rapidly in the past months.

Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,259 voters in Ohio from June 26 to July 7. The poll found that 49% of voters disapprove of the job Obama is doing, while 44% approve.

That is 13 points down from May, when a separate Quinnipiac poll found a 62% approval rating and a 31% disapproval rating.

The most recent Quinnipiac poll also surveyed voters on Obama's handling of the economy, finding 48% disapproval and 46% approval. In May, Obama received a 57% approval rating on the economy.

Full Video of Michael Jackson Memorial Service

Michael Jackson was eulogized in words and song Tuesday by an all-star list of musicians, athletes and other celebrities during a mournful ceremony in downtown Los Angeles, with the most poignant moment delivered by his sobbing 11-year-old daughter.

“I just want to say ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you can ever imagine. And I just wanted to say I love him so much,” Paris-Michael Jackson said before almost collapsing in the arms of her aunt Janet Jackson. read more here...

Al Franken sworn in as U.S. Senator from Minnesota (Video)

Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) has now been sworn into office as the junior Senator from Minnesota, six months and one day after his term would have otherwise begun if not for the super-close election and resulting litigation that kept his victory bottled up.

The former Saturday Night Live performer, author, radio host and Democratic activist, was administered the oath of office by Vice President Joe Biden, and was accompanied by his senior Senator from Minnesota, Amy Klobuchar, and former Vice President Walter Mondale.

After Biden said, "Congratulations, Senator," a raucous round of applause broke out in the chamber -- even from the folks on the Republican side of the aisle who showed up. Sen. Franken then hugged many of his new colleagues.

Franken will have a busy time ahead of him -- with seats on the Health and Judiciary committees, he'll be working on both health care reform and the Supreme Court confirmation process for Sonia Sotomayor.

President Obama on Michael Jackson

On this day of memorial services for singer Michael Jackson, whose followers have turned out in droves in Los Angeles, Obama, who had not had much to say publicly about the musical icon, had this to say:

"I do not think there was any doubt, he was one of the greatest entertainers of our generation, perhaps any generation,'' Obama said. "I think like Elvis, like Sinatra, like The Beatles he became a core part of our culture.

"You know, his extraordinary talent and his music was matched with a big dose of tragedy and difficulty in his private life and I don't think we can ignore that,'' the president said. "But it's important for us to affirm what was the best of him and that was captured by his music, music that Michelle and I listened to from the time we were little kids.''

LOL!!! Gov. Rick Perry and Sen. John Cornyn of Texas gets BOOED at their Tea Party!!! (Updated w/video)

LOL!!! for real.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn drew boos from a crowd outside the Texas Capitol this afternoon as he spoke at a “tea party” rally organized by the Texas office of Americans for Prosperity.

Cornyn was booed at the start and close of his remarks, which assailed actions in Washington; there were no boos while he awarded a Purple Heart to a Copperas Cove resident injured in Iraq in 2006.

“You’re the problem,” a crowd member hollered....

Perry drew scattered boos, notably from crowd members aware of his advocacy of toll roads to relieve traffic congestion.

Yes, they ARE THE PROBLEM!!!

Mika Brzezinski get real about Sarah Palin (Video)

Let's be real here. When Sarah Palin was announced the VP pick for John McCain many were curious, especially women. What happened is that once the vetting commenced, her view points came out and her lack of knowledge on the issues was exposed, Americans said NO TO PALIN.

Yes, Palin has her hard core followers, but it does not EXPAND outside the Republican base. Mika, you of all people should KNOW that you can not win national elections with those numbers. And Palin's numbers across the board are dismal to the public.

Thank you Willie Geist for giving Ms. Brzezinski an almost rolleye and to REMIND her that there are real Americans in NYC and other cities and suburbs outside of these cities. We have the same challenges as the so-called other REAL AMERICANS that the media continues to try and divide.

Wake Up!! Lobbyists spending 1.4M a DAY against any public option

This is cold water on many faces.

Not faces here, not faces who follow politics, but for everyone else.

If you are one of the millions with no health insurance, lost your job and can not afford COBRA payments (which is a joke), insured but your coverage is lacking and you are paying sky high premiums or have you gone bankrupt because you either have or don't have any insurance?

Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines.

Many that have insurance or feel comfortable that nothing will happen, think again. One of those stories can easily become a nightmare for you and your family.

The nation's largest insurers, hospitals and medical groups have hired more than 350 former government staff members and retired members of Congress in hopes of influencing their old bosses and colleagues, according to an analysis of lobbying disclosures and other records.

[snip]

Nearly half of the insiders previously worked for the key committees and lawmakers, including Sens. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa), debating whether to adopt a public insurance option opposed by major industry groups. At least 10 others have been members of Congress, such as former House majority leaders Richard K. Armey (R-Tex.) and Richard A. Gephardt (D-Mo.), both of whom represent a New Jersey pharmaceutical firm.

The hirings are part of a record-breaking influence campaign by the health-care industry, which is spending more than $1.4 million a day on lobbying in the current fight, according to disclosure records. And even in a city where lobbying is a part of life, the scale of the effort has drawn attention. For example, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) doubled its spending to nearly $7 million in the first quarter of 2009, followed by Pfizer, with more than $6 million.

Folks, I don't trust NONE OF THE ABOVE. Especially, when you have the egotistical Senator Chuck Grassley admit the obvious in health care, here. Again I don't trust, ANY OF THEM.

The old adage, "Money talks and bullshit walks", is applicable here. The money that is being thrown around like water out of a fountain is why we hear the likes of Blanche Lincoln, Independent Joe Lieberman, Mary Landrieu and many other DEMOCRATS come out and challenge the choice of a public option plan. These are the same congress persons who enjoys the health care offering in congress which is PUBLIC OPTION. The plan is one of the best in this country. My question is if it is good enough for them, why not us?

Then we have President Obama who says Democratic advocate groups should stop targeting moderate democrats primarily in the senate:
President Obama, strategizing yesterday with congressional leaders about health-care reform, complained that liberal advocacy groups ought to drop their attacks on Democratic lawmakers and devote their energy to promoting passage of comprehensive legislation.

In a pre-holiday call with half a dozen top House and Senate Democrats, Obama expressed his concern over advertisements and online campaigns targeting moderate Democrats, whom they criticize for not being fully devoted to "true" health-care reform.

"We shouldn't be focusing resources on each other," Obama opined in the call, according to three sources who participated in or listened to the conversation. "We ought to be focused on winning this debate."

I want to win this debate, but when you have the likes of Blanche Lincoln, Joe Lieberman, Mary Landrieu, etc., going on the record of not supporting a public option, then they must be called on it.

Congress has public option. Congress has the best health care plan out there that is available. The American people do not.

One has to wonder what is in it, IN THE END, for these Democrats to totally chuck any notion for the public option. My only reason is that these Democrats depend on heavy donations from the insurance and health care communities, via their lobbyists.

If this health care bill goes down or is watered down to nothing for the American public, there will be repercussions and that will start with the 2010 Mid-Term Elections.

President Obama, we understand you want consensus and a good debate, but in the end the public wants and demands a choice, that choice is a strong public option plan.

It can not be anymore clearer than that.

Kremlin, Vatican & Ants Ahead for Obamas

Maureen over at East Wing Rules lays it out for what is ahead in Moscow for the Obamas...

Like their personal shadows, the White House and all its security gear, protocol and communication equipment travels with the first family wherever they go. Onsite secret service along with the one chosen as food taster and an advance team travel with the president and family members. Hotels are secured from above and below and embassies in the destination nations go on high alert. Historically, the president is most often alone on these missions. On momentous occasions and commemorative events, the First Lady and the First Family travels along. Former First Daughters Barbara & Jenna Bush expressed deep regret that they did not travel with the president often until his last year in office.

The Kremlin from the air that the First Family will see when arriving in Moscow and if, the Obama family stays at the Ritz a great view of Moscow's Red Square.

Malia & Sasha Obama are not of an age where they are free to chart their own course or itinerary and the East Wing is putting final prep on their schedules. The littlest Obamas, minus puppy Bo, will be on for another international frenzy as they touchdown with their parents on Air Force One and alight first in the Russian capital of Moscow, on to Italy and the ravages of the earthquake zone and to Africa for a final stop in Ghana. A week that will be historic for the adults as well as the children as they next week as youngsters have not traveled with a president on official business in the 21st century for an extended period. It will be viscerally different after viewing their first fireworks display at the White House on Malia's and the nation's birthday. Even the First Grandma is along for the ride on this official trip. read more here....

Remember Sarah Palin said Hillary Clinton should not complain about media coverage? (Video)

This coming from a former VP candidate, who now says the media is too tough and bias towards her. Pot calling the kettle black? Absolutely.

NEWSWEEK: Sarah Palin, you are a Republican and a conservative one at that. It's unlikely that you and Hillary would agree on too many issues. But, yet, as a woman, chief executive—someone who's been through the grinder—when you look at the coverage and you listen to the conversations, what do you see?

Sarah Palin: Fair or unfair—and I do think that it's a more concentrated criticism that Hillary gets on so many fronts; I think that's unfortunate. But fair or unfair, I think she does herself a disservice to even mention it, really. You have to plow through that and know what you're getting into. I say this with all due respect to Hillary Clinton and to her experience and to her passion for changing the status quo. But when I hear a statement like that coming from a women candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or a sharper microscope put on her, I think, man, that doesn't do us any good. Women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country, I don't think it bodes well for her, a statement like that. Because, again, fair or not fair it is there. I think it's reality and it's a given, people just accept that she's going to be under a sharper microscope. So be it. Work harder, prove to yourself to an even greater degree that you're capable, that you're going to be the best candidate. That's what she wants us to believe at this point. So it bothers me a little bit to hear her bring that attention to herself on that level.

Palin hatin' on the press

You think this will HELP President Obama by the admission of Vice-President Joe Biden? (Video)

Biden: We 'Misread the Economy'

One word: NO.

Does Joe Biden have a point? YES, he does. This goes back to the debate prior to the stimulus package passing and the sticking point that the package was not enough money. Paul Krugman may just be right.

Along with this point is the unemployment numbers which are killing the Obama Administration. The job loss in this country is staggering. I don't care what anyone says, the patience will run thin if things do not turn around and eventually the finger pointing will be at the Obama Administration.

The unemployment numbers are a dark horse here, for anyone not to believe that needs to wake up. If the Obama Administration needs another stimulus package, that is going to be a very hard sell to congress and will give the Republicans a talking point.

"The truth is, we and everyone else misread the economy," Biden told me during our exclusive "This Week" interview in Iraq.

Biden acknowledged administration officials were too optimistic earlier this year when they predicted the unemployment rate would peak at 8 percent as part of their effort to sell the stimulus package. The national unemployment rate has ballooned to 9.5 percent in June -- the worst in 26 years.

"The truth is, there was a misreading of just how bad an economy we inherited," said Biden, who is leading the administration's effort to implement it's $787 billion economic stimulus plan.

Obama calls on groups within the Democratic Party to stop targeting moderate Democrats

Ummmm, that won't stop....

Sarah Palin threatening lawsuits

One thing that many can say is this, she is one Drama Queen!!! Truly she is!! Here is the money paragraph:

To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as "fact" that Governor Palin resigned because she is "under federal investigation" for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation. This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law. The Alaska Constitution protects the right of free speech, while simultaneously holding those "responsible for the abuse of that right." Alaska Constitution Art. I, Sec. 5. http://ltgov.state.ak.us/... These falsehoods abuse the right to free speech; continuing to publish these falsehoods of criminal activity is reckless, done without any regard for the truth, and is actionable.

Thomas Van Flein, for
Governor Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin is a public figure. Period. In accepting the VP slot with McCain in 2008, vetting her was appropriate because no one heard of her. Palin put her kids, family front and center, she did that and in doing so families are vetted, too. Don't believe me? Ask the Obamas. Now I don't know why she is leaving her office after only 2-1/2 years, but if there is any indication from that bizarre press conference yesterday, the only thing I can conclude is that she is not one who does well when the heat is up or a fire in the kitchen. In other words, she just bailed because it got too hard. I expect her to make mega bucks, that is the direction she is going and she will get it, but as far as politics she is done.

Politics is a hard ball sport and if you can't take the knocks and know how to fight, then you don't need to be in the game. As we see, she does not.

Sarah Palin RESIGNING as Governor of Alaska

It is all about RUNNING FOR POTUS IN 2012...

Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her Wasilla home Friday morning.

Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor's Picnic at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks on Saturday, July 25, Palin said.

There was no immediate word as to why she will resign, though speculation has been rampant that the former vice presidential candidate is gearing up for a run at the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

Palin made the announcement flanked by Parnell and most, if not all, of her cabinet.

Parnell ran unsuccessfully against Rep. Don Young in the Republican primary last year.

The stunning announcement by Palin opens the floodgates for the 2010 gubernatorial race. Speculation that Palin might not seek re-election had fueled further conjecture of who might run.

She has a lot of damage repair to do. And it is all about getting out of ALASKA, when you have tasted the lower 48, Alaska is nothing to go back home to cheer about. Sorry, that is how she sees it.

The Obamas overseas starting next week

yes, with the Obama Girls and Grandma, too.

First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia, along with her mother, Marian Robinson, will join President Obama when he travels to Russia, Italy and Ghana next week. The First Couple will meet with Pope Benedict XVI on July 10 at the Vatican.

The White House announced in May that Mrs. Obama would visit Ghana -- and only recently confirmed that she will be with the president for the entire swing. The president will deliver two major speeches during the trip -- in Moscow, on U.S.-Russia relations, and in Accra, before the Ghanaian parliament.

Not all details about Mrs. Obama's activities on this trip are out yet, but a Wednesday briefing at the White House revealed some of her plans.

This is Mrs. Obama's second overseas trip in less than a month; she, her mom and daughters flew to Paris and London in June, marking Sasha's eighth birthday in London. Malia turns 11 on July 4. The next day, the Obama family flies to Russia aboard Air Force One, landing in Moscow on Monday.

Unlike the Paris and London trip -- basically a vacation for Mrs. Obama, with the exception of a side visit to Normandy to mark the anniversary of D-Day -- this travel is official business. read more here....

Senator Kay Hagan on board for the public option

The pressure was put on her and when she went home, well, she was initially cheered at the opening, but by the closing her constituents were telling her to, "Do the right thing."

She is not the only one, here. Many of these weak knee senators who are going home are going to get an EARFUL from their constituents. People are tired and voted for change. If we wanted what we had, I would be typing President John McCain, OK?

One of the real camels to break Hagan's back was the ad planned by moveon.org to target her resistance to the public option. In the end, she got the message.

For days, even weeks, the North Carolina Democrat had been pinpointed as a possible roadblock towards getting a strong public option out of the HELP committee. Progressive groups were running advertisements in her state to compel her to support the provision. Local pressure on the Senator was intense as well as it was widely believed that she was trying to water down the public option during the committee's drafting process.

In the end, Democrats say, Hagan was much more solid on the idea than media reports were letting on.

"The Left is wrong about Sen. Hagan on this," said a Senior Democratic staffer. "For others to attack her as standing in the way of progress on public choice just isn't right. She worked right up to the wire with other Democrats on the Committee. In the end, it will be plan they created together that will pass the Senate, guarantee access to affordable coverage for those who don't have it and preserve the options of those who do." read it all here...

Harry Reid's new excuse on the 60 votes in the senate, "..we cannot bulldoze anybody.."

It just can't get any better than that.

Again, we do have 60 votes for the Democrats, but with leaders like Harry Reid, I am here to tell you, NOT FOR LONG.

Reid has been notorious for making up any excuse for not pushing legislation through, but now faced with the fact of a 60 fillbuster proof majority, he still doesn't get it.

“We have 60 votes on paper,” Senator Harry Reid, the majority leader, said Wednesday in an interview. “But we cannot bulldoze anybody; it doesn’t work that way. My caucus doesn’t allow it. And we have a very diverse group of senators philosophically. I am not this morning suddenly flexing my muscles.”

Indeed, becoming the first party in 30 years to reach the fabled plateau of 60 could create as many political problems as it solves, raising expectations sky high and potentially causing a backlash should Democrats falter on energy or health care.

“The American people are going to say, ‘Look, we have given you the authority to make changes on health care, go ahead and do it,’ ” said Senator Bernie Sanders, a Vermont independent aligned with the Democrats. “No more excuses.”

Senator Reid, President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, the public DOES expect you not to falter on health care and energy, along with the other things that the Democrats were put in charge with.

If you don't understand this, can't figure it out, or out of touch, let me tell you this, "You better get in touch and with a quickness." Change was what this country voted for and with it you got a mandate.

Now do your jobs and deliver.

MSNBC, What is up with not promoting Carlos Watson?

If you have not watched MSNBC, take a peep at it now.

The channel has new hourly morning personalities, the aesthetics of the channel has changed and that is all good. The look is more slick, sleek, modern, which I like but I have a beef with MSNBC.

The channel is promoting its morning line up, starting with morning joe, then it's Dylan Ratigan and the Morning Meeting, then it is Dr. Nancy Snyderman's show. The problem is that Carlos Watson's hour is totally dissed. I mean like the man and his hour DON'T EXIST on MSNBC. What is that about?

Next, is how MSNBC is advertising the morning line up, VISUALLY. The ads running are Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, with Willie Geist, then Dylan Ratigan and his Morning Meeting, finally it is all about Dr. Nancy. Between Ratigan and Dr. Nancy's show is Carlos Watson and his hour. But there is no advertisement at all for Watson, NONE VISUALLY. How bogus is that?

This is a beef and I don't know if it is intentional but it is clear that what MSNBC is presenting is all their white on-air personalities and their slot times promoted, but not Carlos Watson who is black. Then another beef, Watson was in his slot a few weeks before Ratigan and Dr. Nancy's shows even premiered on air.

MSNBC do the right thing. If you are going to promote your NEW MORNING PERSONALITIES, promote them ALL, not just some. The way this is being presented has a racial bias view to me. Now all these personalities have to sink or swim on their own, but don't pump, push and prod your few picks and not be fair to promote them all.

MSNBC clean it up.

The Unemployment Numbers are BAD, 9.5%

There is no getting around it, the numbers are bad. We are right around the double digit marker here.

This is a dark horse that is running against the Obama Administration. The other thing is that the Republicans can not run on the job mantra, just yet, when much of this demise was on their watch and is just continuing.

2010 the Obama Administration will have to own this, period. The stimulus package is either a go or bust, no other way around it. And as numbers continue like this, it means that homes are not being bought, malls are empty, and people are holding on to their money and spending only what is necessary.

It is, what it is.

Employers cut a larger-than-expected 467,000 jobs in June, driving the unemployment rate up to a 26-year high of 9.5 percent, suggesting that the economy's road to recovery will be bumpy.

The Labor Department report, released Thursday, showed that even as the recession flashes signs of easing, companies likely will want to keep a lid on costs and be wary of hiring until they feel certain the economy is on solid ground.

June's payroll reductions were deeper than the 363,000 that economists expected and average weekly earnings dropped to the lowest level in nearly a year.

However, the rise in the unemployment rate from 9.4 percent in May wasn't as sharp as the expected 9.6 percent. Still, many economists predict the jobless rate will hit 10 percent this year, and keep rising into next year, before falling back.

All told, 14.7 million people were unemployed in June.

If laid-off workers who have given up looking for new jobs or have settled for part-time work are included, the unemployment rate would have been 16.5 percent in June, the highest on records dating to 1994. read more here...

LADIES A MUST READ ON CHEATING HUSBANDS

From Maureen Dowd, I am only highlighting a few:

1. Skip the press conference, especially when your husband is copping to call girls, gay pickups in airport bathrooms or “tragic” and “forbidden” telenovela-style love stories. Stoicism at the skunk’s side is overrated and, as Larry Craig’s wife learned, sunglasses don’t help.

2. When there’s an Associated Press bulletin quoting your husband saying that he has found his soul mate but he’s going to try to fall back in love with you, change the locks. (At your second home, too.)

[snip]

8. Even if you’re a clever, competent woman, you risk sounding like a stereotypical harridan if you use the kids as a bludgeon and tell the press, as Jenny did: “You would think that a father who didn’t have contact with his children, if he wanted those children, he would toe the line a little bit.” When kids are involved, it’s best to chill when dishing out revenge.

9. Don’t slam his girlfriend for lying when you know she’s telling the truth. Don’t refer to the baby your rival had with your husband as “it.” Don’t trash a mistress, as Hillary and Elizabeth did, as a wacky stalker. No one — except the wife — blames the girlfriend as much as they blame the husband. Besides, you invite The Other Woman’s retaliation, as when Rielle decided — after watching Elizabeth spill to Oprah — that she might want that DNA test after all.

If you did not read this click on the link above and read it ALL. Most importantly, don't put your dirty married affairs in the news, a.k.a. the A.P. as the Sanfords did. Sadly, both Jenny and Mark Sanford are jokes now and to the point that South Carolina just want them to go away.

Tip Jenny, really, if your husband comes out and says he "has to fall back in love with you", girlfriend it is time to take your millions, your check book and BOUNCE. What woman want to hear that noise from a husband that is confessing he found the love of his life, his soulmate and he ain't talking about YOU.. He has done nothing but embarrass and humiliate you. GIRL MOVE THE FUCK ON......

Video of President Obama's Health Care Town Hall in Virginia

At an emotional forum in Virginia, President Barack Obama hugged a cancer patient Wednesday and vowed to bring greater efficiency and accessibility to the nation's health care system.

Debby Smith, 53, of Appalachia, Va., a volunteer for Obama's political operation, fought tears as she told Obama of her kidney cancer and her inability to obtain health insurance or hold a job. The president embraced her and called her "exhibit A" in an unsustainable system that is too expensive and complex for millions of Americans.

"We are going to try to find ways to help you immediately," he told Smith as hundreds watched at a community college forum — and countless others on television. But the nation's long-term needs require a greater emphasis on preventive care and "cost-effective care," he said. read more here...

Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) whose side are you on in the health care fight? (Video)

On Wednesday, a coalition of progressive groups, including Democracy for America, MoveOn, and Change Congress, released a 60-second television ad in Louisiana ramping up the pressure on Sen. Mary Landrieu to support a government vehicle for insurance. In addition to shining a spotlight on the $1.6 million Landrieu has received from health and insurance companies in the form of campaign contributions, the spot also elevates the story of Karen Gadbois, a breast cancer survivor who had won the title of 2008 New Orleanian of the Year by exposing corruption after Hurricane Katrina. read more here....

Calls for Mark Sanford to RESIGN

YES.HE.SHOULD....

There is an OPEN FIGHT for everyone to view between Sanford, his wife, and to some degree his lover.

The back and forth of Mark and Jenny Sanford puts light on a marriage that is VASTLY OUT OF LOVE with each other.

The remarks that Jenny Sanford gave about her marriage, the continuous remarks that Mark Sanford has given about his marriage is just TMI!!! Yes, too much information.

The Sanfords need to go away and now South Carolina is in agreement.

Twelve of the 27 members of the state Senate's Majority Caucus now have signed a petition, calling for Gov. Mark Sanford to resign.

The latest Republican to sign was state Sen. Wes Hayes, R-York, chairman of the Senate's ethics committee.

Pressure is mounting Sanford to step down after he disappeared to Argentina for a week without telling anyone where he would be, confessed to an extramarital affair with an Argentine woman and acknowledged additional unspecified inappropriate relationships with a handful of other women. read more here...

And Senator Jim DeMint calls for Sanford to "Do the right thing", a.k.a., RESIGN.
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) on Wednesday urged embattled Gov. Mark Sanford, a fellow South Carolina Republican, to make the “right decision” about his political future.

“He’s dropped the flag. The rest of us have to get up and go on,” DeMint said during an interview on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.”

“A lot of us are talking to him behind the scenes in hopes that he'll make the right decision about what needs to be done,” the first-term senator said. read more here....

Hey, this is political fodder and an albatross around the Republicans NECK for their "family values" platform. Should Sanford resign? Yes. The man is not in love with is wife, but with the woman in Argentina. Why continue this and have these crazy statements flowing from Sanford's mouth? The man is a hypocrite of the highest magnitude and should RESIGN.

Glenn Beck agrees that a major weapon should be detonated in the United States (Video)

Stunning, but not unexpected from that idiot:

At :24 seconds into this video

Scheuer: " The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States. "

Is that patriotic? Why was the mic not cut from that fool? And Beck agrees?

It is rhetoric like this that should put FOX NEWS on the danger list. I mean a list that incites hate and racist rhetoric on the daily. h/t Daily Kos

So, we have 60 votes in the senate. Now, do we have the balls to use it?

Yes, do we have the drive and determination to deliver the agenda the public voted for.

Do we have balls to drive legislation through the senate that this country VOTED for, like health care reform, like environmental reform, like education reform, like energy reform, like the dismantling of DADT and DOMA, well do we?

That is the big elephant in the room for the Democrats.

We congratulate Senator-Elect Al Franken for his patience, perserverance, stamina, and knowing he was on the right side of the recount argument. He handled this final win from the Minnesota Supreme Court with grace and stature that is expected from a Senator-Elect. But, Franken is not the Saviour here because he is the 60th vote, this number is the hammer down for Democrats to stop HIDING behind the words, "We Don't Have The Votes."

See, this country voted for change. If this country did not want change it would have just let the same win in November, but the Republicans did not and the voters rebuked that party. The Democrats have two options, fight and produce solid legislation that was voted for or tip toe around the minority party and let them call the shots.

The Republicans have 40 senators in the senate and their prospects for 2010 don't look all that good in reality. I understand bi-partisanship, Obama tried hard but he got nothing out of it, in fact now the Republicans are stating that the White House are not wooing them any longer. Did they think that would continue with their nastiness and constant viciousness? And I mean from the Republican Party against not only President Obama but his wife, Michelle Obama. Did they think that their constant vote against EVERYTHING would keep them in the Obama White House click? After a while, one gets tired of trying and MOVES ON. The Republicans have gotten that message.

The Democrats have a golden opportunity, it is called, "doing the right thing." I mean all the Democrats, even the conservative ones. If they do not, they will see imploding not in D.C. but across this country. People are waiting and they are tired. If the Democrats don't get this, they better and I mean quick.

60 votes is a big thing in the senate. We are talking about not since 1979 has a White House administration had this. If the Democrats in D.C. and the Obama White House don't do the right thing, they can expect some angry voters in 2010 and beyond.

I am not just typing this, I am hearing this and from many first time voters, Republicans who voted for Obama, and independents.

Do the right thing, Democrats. If not, it is at your peril.
